The good: They allowed the gentleman that I rented my van to stay in the van on premise overnight.
The bad: I had recently replaced the glow plugs in my vehicle. One of which I was unable to extract. I had rented my vehicle on outdoorsy and the problematic glow plug popped out on its own. I arranged to get it towed to the nearest shop. It was outlaw diesel. When I was contacted by the renter about the breakdown, I had a general idea that it was the glow plug. So, drove down to the shop myself (3.5 hour drive) with the glow. I arrived before the shop was even open. I was able to diagnose the issue before they opened. I brought the glow plug with me and lacking an extension to install it myself. I asked them if they could install it. It was maybe a 5 min job. They stated that they would not be held liable if it broke down again. I told them I would take full responsibility. They refused. Said that they needed to see if debris fell into the cylinder and the threads were probably ruined. I then asked them to verify both and we could go from there. They took the van for such diagnosis. And, confirmed that the threads were ruined and they would have to remove the head to rethread. I was there already and agreed to such. They got back to me a week later with a $1500 repair cost. I agreed. But, also knowing that the head was to be removed it would be an ideal time to replace the injectors. They were going to be removed anyways should not be any added labor or very minimal. So, I asked for an estimate with the injectors replaced. They never got back to me so a few weeks later I inquired. They stated that the mechanics father had a medical emergency so work was to be postponed. I readily agreed and told them to take their time as for the vehicle was just for recreational purposes. They took months. I would call every few weeks to get a status. Nearly 6 months later I received the estimate. $9500 with the added injectors. I immediately replied I’d rather just repair the initial glow plug issue via email. But got nervous after no reply I called a few times until I finally got a hold of someone. They stated they had already started tearing it down. I told them no problem but just the glow plug issue. They then refused to work on the vehicle period and stated that I would have to tow it out and I would be charged a day fee for storage. This after them having the vehicle for months. I took me a pair of days to find a tow company to tow it back 3.5 hours to Las Vegas. They still charged me over $500 for the teardown.
Once in Vegas I had a few weeks to put the van back together myself with the help of a mechanic friend of mines coaching. We found out that the threads that were theoretically stripped were fine and if they would have just taken the 5 min to install the glow plug I took them, all this would have been avoided. Such an awful experience. I did not want to write a review but was convinced to write for the benefit of others that end up going to this shop. As my mechanic friend said. It is shops like this that give mechanics...
Read moreStarted using Outlaws a couple of years ago. I am never quick to write a review until I've used a product or service multiple times with the same result.
Todd, Shantay and crew have ALWAYS done the best possible work on my vehicle which is neither an RV, diesel or semi with better than overpriced dealers and always at a reasonable price.
They NEVER UPSELL and only do the work I requested, though they will point out anything they see to me.
Speaking of pointing things out, Todd, his senior mechanic Kalani are both Army and USAF military diesel, aircraft and gas vehicle trained mechanics. Dylan one of their top flight certified mechanics is also a race truck driver and let's just say, might know a thing or two about performance.... LOL... Which might be an understatement.
Besides the strong Patriotic and military support ambiance Outlaws RV & Diesel have that Williams AZ and the State of Arizona have in their DNA, Outlaws took away certain skills only top military mechanics have, a checklist to make sure all bases are covered.
Nothing worse than a dealer or mechanic having several parts leftover they shouldn't.
This attention to detail, Outlaw's honesty (I know! Usually a contradiction in terms), their empiric knowledge and reasonable pricing will win your loyalty, as they have done mine.
I was once told by a very wise mentor... "In life, if you have a great accountant, attorney, doctor and mechanic, life will serve you well."
Never truer words spoken!
Outlaws, the most honest mechanics in Williams...
Read moreAfter a totally negative experience with Emergency Response, I called Outlaw diesel. If there was a ten star option, that is what I would give I called them before open hours and the wife answered the phone. She made me feel comfortable from the very start. I was at at the shop at 9:00am when they opened and the husband was already aware of my situation. He loaded two guys in the company truck and followed me to the rv park where we were staying. The guys did what was need to be done so I could pull my 40’ fifth wheel to their shop. They even followed me in case I had a problem. Was plenty of room for my fifth the wheel and the repair work was started right away they got me back on the road that afternoon. I sent my wife in to take care of the bill while I secured everything inside the fifth wheel for the trip back home. This company did go way up and beyond and checked other potential problems. When my wife came out, I asked her if I needed to rob a bank Lol. She said you will not believe how great the final total of the repair was and she was totally right 10 stars and hats off to Outlaw Diesel and their entire crew. This was all done even though this is a very...
