Okay, in like a year you absolutely will not be able to get a room here. Seriously. The owner is a super nice guy. He is renovating this historic motel on historic route 66. He is very knowledgable of the area, the grand canyon, and also phoenix. He has a passion for the history of the area that is unrivaled. He has a really good old school map of the grand canyon that is worth taking a picture of. The room was very nice. It has 2 separate rooms, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. The beds are super comfortable. There is no hvac. Didnt need it. Both bedrooms had ceiling fans. There is a nice little patio area. Breakfast was nice. Nice selection of fruits and muffins and cereal. Coffee was good and there was juice. You eat breakfast outside at the pavillion which was a nice way to start the day. Not sure how that works during inclement weather or winter, but it's summer so it was awesome. The owner isnt on the desk all night, so if you are doing a late checkin be aware of that. That is not disclosed in any of the travelocity language which is where i booked the hotel through. It is on their personal website though. All in all the only reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5, was because of the construction, parking is hinky and i could have done withou he lecture from the owner about checking in at 11pm. Great place and would stay here again if i need a night...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis old building suffers from electricity infrastructure problem. My child and wife got an electrical shock, when they were in the bath. We were lucky and they were not injured badly.
I did not like the way hotel owner started to argue with my wife about that accident and I believe that he should take it more politely.
This hotel did not have any other rooms so we ends up looking for another hotel in the middle of the night. Hotel owner were kind enough to look for the other place to stay for us.
We spent 2 days around Grand Canyon and all this time my child was little crunky. Eventually we took him to an emergency room in Flagstaff to check if there were any hidden damage from the electrical shock. But there were not able to find anything specific. I hope that there was no long term damage caused for my child health in that accident.
I would not risk my life or life of my relatives by staying in that place, until the problem with electrical wiring will be addressed by a professional technician and local authorities will run a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe night we were supposed to check in we were running late which meant we wouldnāt get there until after office hours. I called the motel and talked to Rich who was very accommodating. When we arrived at 11:30pm he was there and got us checked in. He was a great host. Made us feel like we were actual guests at someoneās home. The motel was really cute. It was like stepping back in time. I studied hotel/restaurant management so it was really fun staying in the first motel built on Route 66 in Williams and knowing the history of motels. Since itās also a historic building itās being kept as authentic as it can be. The beds were really comfy too. Better then some hotels Iāve stayed at. The room was really clean and it was nice having a fridge and microwave I would highly recommend staying here if you want to have a Route 66 experience. Additionally, if you book a motel, especially a historic motel, do not expect to have the luxuries of a hotel like an ice machine or room service. Thatās what keeps motels...
