We dined at the Taj Mahal restaurant on Saturday, 22 Feb 2025. My wife loves Indian food and I thought it would be a nice end to our day, enjoying the train out of Williams to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. I have nothing bad to say about the food, which was very tasty. The table service, was average - so no issues there. However, we both used the rest rooms and they were among the worst that we have ever seen. I went from stall to stall, hoping to find one that was passable. There were none - they were all filthy, both on the floor, but also the toilet seat. Even the table that we sat at, it was not clean, so we moved to another. That one was not really clean, just less dirty. If we had not already spoken to the staff and placed a drink order, we would have left. We were too nice perhaps. We were concerned that we might get sick, but luckily that did not happen. I really don't want to punish the restaurant; I want to inform the owner that you must do a better job. If the restrooms are dirty, it leads your clientele to wonder if the kitchen is so poorly maintained too. I would add urinals in the rest room - no doubt that is why the stalls were all filthy, the men found no urinals, did not lift the seats, and instant gross mess because of their poor aim. Someone should be checking at least hourly on the state of the rest rooms and signing their name, so that you know who is responsible to ensure it is clean. There were few clients when we arrived about 6 PM - there was really no reason they could not have cleaned the rest rooms as they did not have much else to do. I wonder if there might be a male attitude there towards "cleaning" as we only saw men and clearly they were failing in this aspect. I hope that you correct this, as again we very much enjoyed the food - but if you cannot keep the place clean, your business is at risk. A sign on the street might be wise to help us find you more easily as well, as we could not find the street that Google advised us to turn down. I could even imagine someone turning onto the exit ramp from the 40 trying to follow the directions. Good luck and I hope you make a...
Read moreThis has quickly become our favorite place to eat out at in Williams. At this point I am pretty sure we could be classified as regulars we come so often. They even beat out our favorite Indian food place in Flagstaff which I thought would be impossible to do.
The atmosphere here is always nice. It's clean and I enjoy the music videos playing.
Service is on point. It's always the same gentleman for us and he is great, attentive, and helpful.
Now for the best part.... the food! We have come several times at this point and always try a different appetizer. The thing I love the most is the variety here is on point. They have so many more options and they have all been incredible so far. My favorite so far for appetizers is by far the Aloo Tikki Chaat. 10/10 recommend.
When it comes to main dishes we have tried vegetarian and non vegetarian because let's face it we love our meat. We haven't found one we haven't liked yet.
Honestly if you haven't tried this place yet...
Read moreAs an Indian highly skeptical about eating north Indian food literally anywhere in the US, we chanced upon this place purely by luck and a tummy rumbling with hunger with nothing else around. We debated for about 10 minutes in the car parked in front of their restaurant whether to battle another faint imitation of Indian food that for the most places in California doesn't even meet the "passing expectation" Mark. But lo behold! We surely taken in by surprise - this place snack dab in the middle of nowhere literally serves the BEST Indian food in North America HANDS DOWN. We were completely taken back by the quality and taste of the food in a mind-blowing way. This looks like an old Chinese restaurant recently bought and converted to an Indian fare but woah, after we were done licking our fingers, we ordered 7 more plates of food which we freezes after reaching home in Chandler - we will be enjoying this food for a week. Hats off to the cooks...
