RV park is fine but if you are a light sleeper this isn’t the best place to stay. Trains run throughout the day and night and blow their super loud horns every time they come by. This isn’t the campgrounds fault and they have no control over it but it is something to be aware of. The campground was fine and the bathrooms and laundry and showers were super clean and very nice. Loved all the Christmas lights everywhere too. We booked the luxury dome train ride to Grans Canyon and the bus tour of the south rim at the Grand Canyon with the Buffett lunch. I would have never paid the higher price for the luxury dome had I known there really were no views worth seeing out the windows. It’s basically flat land with a few small mountains occasionally and a few pine trees occasionally but other than that it was nothing to see but boring landscape so not worth spending the extra money so a basic train ticket would have been the better choice and saved my money. As for the bus tour it was rushed and you only had two quick stops at two look off points to see the canyon and they weren’t even at the better places to see the Grand Canyon. You don’t get more than 10 to 15 minutes to try and get around the crowds to see it and not really time to take good pictures. It was very disappointing and you don’t go to Mather point like we expected to do. The buffet lunch we got was in a small building that was no more than an open room with a few cafeteria style tables and chairs lined up and the buffet was a joke. You got your choice of some really tough pork slices with pineapple or some dark meat chicken pieces then there was a pasta dish with no meat and it basically was terrible too. Then there was green beans and plain overcooked white rice and cornbread. Desert was small pieces of carrot cake. This was all there was to the buffet lunch and it was horrible. I couldn’t believe they charged extra for this crappy lunch. The whole thing cost us over $500 for 2 people and it was a total waste of money. The train ride wasn’t bad itself but I should have saved the extra money I spent for the luxury some and bought just a coach ticket because there was no views to be seen from the train. Would not recommend this train and tour bus with buffet lunch at all. Save your money and find another tour if you need a ride to Grand Canyon or better yet drive to the Grand Canyon yourself so you have the time to see everything and get...
Read moreReservations: The desk was immediately responsive.
Checkin: Executed very smoothly, quickly, professionally. Staff was friendly and informative. We extended our stay one day beyond what was originally anticipated and that process could not have been more convenient.
Location: Campground is downtown in Williams Arizona.
Site condition: The sites are paved, level, and solid. Campground roads are paved and wide. The sites are generous in their length and width. Navigating the campgrounds roads is exceptionally easy. There are none of the usual untrimmed trees, narrow roads, and vehicles parked in the road.
Utilities: Electric, water, and sewer were all very good. The power is a rock solid 120VAC.
Local attractions: At the campground you are only a couple blocks from the heart of Williams. It is a Route 66 themed tourist town. There are many good restaurants at quite reasonable prices. Without question the best deal in town is Anna's Grand Canyon Coffee and Cafe. They have great food, good prices, wonderful service. There are several good pubs with local brews. Williams is a nice town to walk. It is entertaining to travel its few blocks on foot.
Amenities: Bathrooms/showers were clean, well kept, and conveniently located. Dumpster was a short walk. All facilities appear to be new. The bathrooms/showers/laundry are beautiful. All facilities are frequently cleaned. Every time I visited a facility there was a worker cleaning. This place is kept cleaner than I keep my home. The hotel provides swimming pool, pub, restaurant, kennel, and every other service the average traveller could want. The focus amenity is the train to Grand Canyon village.
Internet access: Internet via Wifi was good. If you need high bandwidth then get your work done before 6:00 pm when everyon is trying to stream their favorite shows.
Problems: None, except for one petty criticism. The Wifi password provided could not be used. The alternative was to simply click on a button that provided Wifi access for 24 hours. No big deal. I might mention also that the RV sites are adjacent to a train track. You will hear train whistles in the middle of the night.
Summary: This is a first class place with quite reasonable rates. I would strongly encourage the traveler to check the google reviews of local restaurants, pubs, and other attractions. Those reviews were consistent with our...
Read moreOverall nice park, but right next to the railroad tracks so the noise of the trains could be an issue to some people.. We had our 3 yr and 5 yr old grandsons with us so they LOVED the trains going by. |Not much shade, but not a big issue for us this trip (fall and not too hot).|There is a dog-walking path around the park with clean-up bags and trash can on it. | Management was Very accommodating as far as # of persons at our 2 campsites(6 adults, 2 children and a baby), including allowing a medium size tent to be erected near one of our Travel Trailers on the same site, no extra charge. However, not being able to use stakes means we had to use/find large rocks, bungie cords, and cinder bags to secure it in place of tent stakes. Same for our Coleman Easy-Up. |Management placed our 2 travel trailers(TT) in 2 sites, side by side, on the end of a row at the back of the park which worked very well for our family with small children. The full hook-up Sites are very level asphalt, good for TT and RVs. |Nice clean restrooms and free hot showers with soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers. and a laundry room which sported a vending machine of laundry products, all which require an entrance key card that is provided at the registration desk, included in the fee.|As far as amenities, there is a very nice little playground with a couple of benches and a picnic table across the street from the campground that our grandsons enjoyed very much. There is a horseshoe pit right by the playground as well as a sand volleyball/badminton court. You'd need to provide your own equipment, I think. We played bocce ball in the horseshoe pit! Though there is an indoor pool and hot tub available to campers at the hotel, we didn't find them convenient as there is only 1 small restroom/changing room, no shower, at the pool so we had to either walk wet all the way back to the campground to shower and change or get into our car wet and then shower and change in the campground.|Management provided a free golfcart-type shuttle to and from the campground to the train station for us to take the Grand Canyon Train. They allowed us to take a folding stroller and a fold-up wagon with us as well. Very accommodating, and the shuttle driver, Dennis, was especially helpful and kind!|Good location if you are planning to take the Grand Canyon Train and/or go out sightseeing...
