friday - 8:50pm - no wait - cash little bowl came to be my favorite dessert place in hanoi due to it being "not too sweet," cheap, and filled with many different ingredients. indoor/outdoor tables and stools, paid after we ate.

Read moreFor a tourist wanting to try some Che, I think this is one of the best places to go. Everything was nice, just order what you prefer. And definitely try the Caramel Flan. It may not be as "authentic" as some of the corner Che stores in the old quarter, but that doesn't mean its bad. I've tried a few of those and to be honest I prefer this.
You still get to sit at squatting height in a tiny cafe, you still get traffic fumes and secondhand smoke. But you don't get water dripping down from the roof into the food, and you don't have to sit basically on the kerb of the road in a puddle of drain water.
The owner is also really nice and will allow you to customise your (second or third) bowl of Che with more of the pieces...

Whats not to like?
Coconut milk base, with tonnes of treats you can add such as tapioca pearls, yam and sweet potato jellies, grass jellies, mung beans, sago and many more.
Im usually used to the jellies being a little more firm and less gooey, but i can learn to enjoy this style too. The overall dessert is not too sweet which makes it very palatable and refreshing.
A great bowl for a hot days out in Hanoi.
