friday - 8:50pm - no wait - cash little bowl came to be my favorite dessert place in hanoi due to it being "not too sweet," cheap, and filled with many different ingredients. indoor/outdoor tables and stools, paid after we ate. // traditional mixed bowl (35k) // really enjoyed this bowl. coconut milk was not too sweet and can be mixed with ice. loved the combo of textures with red beans, sago, banana, pandan jelly, beetroot jelly, taro, noodles etc. many different flavors going on and a good dish to try a bunch of different toppings. // sweet taro bowl (25k) // we came back on our last day to have little bowl. i opted for a lighter bowl -- taro bowl had coconut milk, sago, tapioca, sweet taro, and noodle jelly. a bit more sweet than the traditional bowl as it doesnt have the beans but just as yummy. // would i return? // yes! all the other dessert i had in hanoi was too sweet for me. little bowl was just right and hit the spot.

Vegan deserts! All vegans should visit. We loved Little Bowl and went twice during our trip to Hanoi. No doubt we will visit again before we leave Vietnam. The lady who worked there showed us the vegan options and was really helpful. She can make the bowls without condensed milk. They are sweet enough without it. You can also add an ice cube if you want to reduce the sweetness too. Really tasty, sweet but light desert. Beats ice cream! And around £0.75 a bargin. We went for the traditional bowl on the first visit. And then traditional and mixed on the next to try another mix.

The lady who worked there showed us the vegan options and was really helpful. She can make the bowls without condensed milk. They are sweet enough without it. For a tourist wanting to try some Che, I think this is one of the best places to go. Everything was nice, just order what you prefer. And definitely try the Caramel Flan. It may not be as "authentic" as some of the corner Che stores in the old quarter, but that doesn't mean its bad. I've tried a few of those and to be honest I prefer this.

You still get to sit at squatting height in a tiny cafe, you still get traffic fumes and secondhand smoke. But you don't get water dripping down from the roof into the food, and you don't have to sit basically on the kerb of the road in a puddle of drain water.

The owner is also really nice and will allow you to customise your (second or third) bowl of Che with more of the pieces...
