I went there because I read they have vegan options. I asked for sautee tofu with vegan mince meat which was displayed under the "vegan menu". The dish had silken tofu and egg tofu!!! When I told the stuff that the dish had egg and I don't eat egg, he told me that it doesn't have egg and that the tofu is like this, to which I replied that I know very well how tofu is because I eat it almost every day. When I asked him to check the ingredients of the tube shaped tofu, he refused and insisted there is no egg. For context, I've been vegan for 7 years and I can really tell when something is off in what I eat. In the end I changed the dish for shitake mushrooms claypot, which was ok but the mushrooms were definitely not shitake. They looked like canned whole portobello. We also ordered a pleurotous mushroom tempura which was good. In general I got disappointed from the defensiveness of the staff and I lost my appetite after eating egg, so I only ate a little bit of the rest. Last, in the "vegan" menu, they had dishes with cheese and egg so obviously they don't distinguish properly between vegan and vegetarian. I wouldn't go again because I wouldn't trust what what I'm served is really vegan. Maybe if you're vegetarian or omnivore, you would have a...
Read moreIf you arrive to Vietnam while hungover looking for some vegetarian or vegan food and you go here, you will be completely disappointed by Vietnamese food and probably give up on it completely immediately. The food here is neither a representation of Vietnamese food nor food.
I ordered two dishes, bi cuon and guoi cuon, which usually is known as fresh spring rolls in English. The servers took incredibly long to serve what clearly were old rolls from the fridge. They were extremely hard and dry, and made me feel like I visited the Sahara Desert. You couldn't eat them without using a lot of force.
The people in there don't represent Vietnamese. hospitality. This is the first time in my life I send food back, the servers acted confused and as if they didn't understand me. Eventually they took it back without replacing, since they most likely don't make them fresh anyway. After the bill came out they didn't remove it from the bill either and we had to ask them again to do it.
Save yourself some time, go for some street food stall mentioning "chay" and it's always vegetarian and 9/10 times vegan as well. The location is convenient if you want a show afterwards, which you would need to compensate the disappointment from...
Read moreThey have a large menu, in fact two menus, a regular one and a vegetarian. I had the morning glory, vegetarian BBQ pork, which I believe is made with seitan, a wheat gluten, curry vegetables, fried tofu, spring rolls, and fried rice. Also had a glass of OJ and a banana smoothie . Everything was delicious. The menu also had a few Mexican dishes but being from the Bay area, it didn't make sense to push it. It's in a wide alley way that is easy find once you turn into the alley way. Definitely will go there again. Very reasonable price and there's something for everyone even though it's...
