The place was no frills, feels like a garage across of the actual house where the uncle blanches the pho and plates the soup. The diners were mainly local and there were no lines when I came at around 7pm.
The pho was absolutely FANTASTIC. I ordered the pho dac biet (complete pho with multiple cuts of beef). To be honest I don’t know what were all the cuts included in the dac biet, but they were all sliced beef, some rare and some cooked. There were no piece that looks like tripe, tendon, or other offals. I think I identified raw flank and cooked shank but I didn’t know what were the other beef cuts I got.
Soup looks very simple, with a generous amount of cut green onions, and around 2 sticks of blanched, young green onions. But the looks alone may deceive you. The broth is packed with strong beefy flavors. All the green onions added aroma without the “smelliness” of raw green onion. There were a little amount of cilantro as well.
The condiments offered on the table were a jar of super thinly sliced garlic in vinegar, limes, red chili, and a bottle of chili sauce. I didn’t use any of them at first to taste the original version, but I ended up not adding anything to my soup because I loved it so much as it was already.
Gorgeous food. Would come back for a visit. Very worth a visit if you’re anywhere close...
Read moreI love this place, it was recommended with my food, your guide who has a very good eye and palate. And maaaannnn did it please our tastebuds. Not only that, but it exceeded them.
It is literally a hole in the wall place, with a room across it for people to sit in. It has one long table and people sit on either side. You are given rare beef pho with luscious noodles, a stellar broth, and given a few condiments to add: Pickled garlic Chilli sauce (an orange colour) Kumquat to squeeze juice Pepper Fresh chillies chopped
And oh my, was it good! Spectacular. Nuch much much better than the Southern style Pho and life changing. Also far better than another place I went to.
An interesting experience that night includes some older drunk Vietnamese men offering/forcing is to drink their strong home maze rice wine (Served in a soft drink bottle). We couldn't say no, of course! Oh, so sweet and gunny they were.
Two of them hugged for an extended period of time and were apologising to each other over and over. A few were being very loud and laughing, hahaha. A great time!
An absolute must in Hanoi! Wow. Go here for quality Pho and a real...

If you’re looking for authentic, no-frills, absolutely delicious phở in Hanoi, Phở Sướng is the place to go. This spot is legendary among locals, and after one bite, it’s easy to see why.
The broth is deep, rich, and incredibly aromatic—slow-simmered to perfection with layers of beefy umami. The noodles are silky and cooked just right, and the beef? Unbelievably tender and flavorful. Whether you go for the classic rare beef (tái) or the fully loaded bowl with brisket and tendon, every bite is a testament to Hanoi’s deep phở tradition.
The setting is simple and unpretentious, exactly how a great phở place should be. Service is fast, portions are generous, and the flavors are as authentic as it gets.
If you’re in Hanoi and love phở, Phở Sướng is a must-visit. One of the best bowls in the...
