DO NOT use this facility for a CONFERENCE or to try to sleep in Salt Lake City. It is almost comical how bad this place is. I came for a nursing conference and only got about 4 hours of sleep each night. I could hear my neighbors above, and to the sides. My first morning I woke to “good morning Helen!” Apparently that’s my neighbor’s name and the conversation was so clear I learned her name! I heard every flush, and every time an alarm went off I could identify the ring tone. Currently I’m listening to luggage rolling on the floor above and sirens racing by. One bed was not usable, fortunately I had the room to myself so could climb out of that sagging mattress and get in the other. Outside a group of people sleeping on the street would get into screaming fights, I heard those as well in spite of being on the 10th floor. And there is also construction happening, both inside the building (I heard drilling) and down on the street. After the first night I told the front desk I was tired and sore from lake of sleep in noisy room and was referred to a hotel Spa down the street for a massage (Great America ? It was amazing!). I tried again but the second night was worse, I went to the front desk to ask for help after midnight and they SOLD ME earplugs ??? The staff were very kind and said they get a lot of complaints about noise, but their manager does not allow them to do much?!! When the neighbor uses water there is a pump sound that goes off for about ten minutes, maybe because it’s 10th floor? I woke later to the vibration of an HVAC system or ?? Wha wa whah I recorded it on my phone so I could play for them. I give up. I changed my flight and am going home early, sad to miss the last day of the conference but I need sleep! For the conference the uncomfortable chairs were too tall so we were all wishing they had foot stools for us, it cut off circulation to sit for presentations and we could hear what was happening in the rooms next door. Two stars for kind employees, easy train ride from airport, nice clean room, and pool. If I didn’t need to sleep it would be great place to stay. Terrible place for a conference! If you are trying to sleep in SLC, Go stay at the hotel down the street with the fancy spa, and get a room facing the courtyard. Much more peaceful.

Update! Update! Update! This hotel is in desperate need of a remodel/general repairs. This past weekend we stayed here in the presidential suite 1233. Thankfully, we did not pay for the room due to points and being upgraded. Good: room size, it was an “upgrade”, beautiful view from the top floor, breakfast was good. Bad: 1. Old scuffed up outdated furniture from 2000! There was a label on some of the furniture that was from November of 2000. Some of the counter tops of the tables weren’t even secured to the base of the table. know a majority of the rooms have been updated (at least I hope so) but there was still identical furniture that was in our room throughout the common areas of the hotel. 2. Safety Hazard! In the specific room we were in, there was a 4 post bed frame that was way to big for the mattress. These is around a 10 inch open gap between the edge of the mattress and the bed frame. Could very easily get out of bed and accidentally get your leg stuck between the frame and mattress. Especially when there are no lights in the room other than the bedside table lamps. 3. Poor maintenance. For starters the button to the elevator literally appears to be on the verge of falling off the wall. When you pressing the button the entire housing sinks into the wall about an inch. To list a few more quick, the buffets sneeze guard glass looks like it’s about to fall off the mount, there were holes in the wall that were very poorly patched in our room, wall paper was peeling up in a lot of areas, poor lighting quality, TV is way to small for the size of the room, the furnace/AC systems in the room would make loud buzzing noises/thud noises every 20-30 minutes or so, and even though there was a bar area with a sink, mini fridge, etc. there was no microwave! Not exactly sure how much the room would cost but I’d guess over $1000 per night. I’ve stayed in cheap motels that had a nicer room then the presidential suite at this hotel.
