The water in the pool is a great temperature, and the pool has benches for soaking. I'm giving 2 stars because soaking in the natural mineral water should be the most important thing about a hot springs pool.
The change rooms are absolutely disgusting, there was at least a week's worth of hair on the floor and a year's worth of mildew. Plus some random clumps of TP and other trash. The only way to find out whether it is open is to phone the resort. They claim they don't have enough "lifeguards" to open every day, so they say you need to call to check every morning. When we were there, two staff sat in the office the whole time - clearly not lifeguarding. They don't even have a view of the bottom of the pool.
Calling this a "public pool" is a misnomer. It is operated by the resort, and the resort clearly has zero motivation to maintain it or keep it clean. This place should be torn down and replaced by a real public pool - a couple of hot soak pools, a cold plunge, and a cooler pool for kids to play. It would bring way more business to the rest of the hotels in the area. The resort is not a good neighbour, and should not be allowed to continue controlling a resource that should belong to the whole community.
The entrance fee is more than double what we would pay at any other community centre pool, but with fewer amenities and...
Read moreWent to the pool at opening time on a Friday middle of March. Obviously there has been a thorough renovation and cleaning done recently (see other reviews). The place opened on time, is a bit aged but was clean and pleasant . A local waiting with us at the door mentioned that opening times have stabilized recently as more lifeguards have been qualified. Change rooms and showers were pristine (this, of course might change during the day). The pool floor and siding seem to have no issues. We very much enjoyed our dip in a reasonably empty pool. I liked the architecture reminiscent of a Japanese hot springs environment. Yes, a modern building might be oriented and built differently, but renovated and clean, we had no complaints. A note to the uninitiated: the hot water is pumped into the pool at the steps. The pool gets gradually cooler towards the far side. The only way to know this is to see a red writing on the floor with an arrow saying "hot" at the steps but you might easily overlook it. As we paid we were told that the ticket is good for re-entry later in the day if you keep the receipt to present it again. Will definitely come back, if most...
Read moreJust look at the benches outside the front door covered in dust with drug use in evidence when I tried to visit the place I remember as I once used to clean the pool in 1981. Not only are the staff blind to this but also deaf to every question I asked the young fellow. Every sentence I spoke had to be repeated providing factual evidence of substance abuse and short term memory loss associated with B.C. bud. The main l8fe guard office in the lobby also was notable poor cleanliness with litter all over the floor. Sad degeneration of the 2hole experience of Harrison when they can't even keep grass full and green on the largest fresh 2ater lake in Western Canada.Using such excuses of not being able to afford the chlorination of the 2ater supply system. S I meones head needs to roll on this and I'm going to the top just to at least say or do something rather than hide my head in the sand or rocks in similarity to a slug.L8ke these so called men in north America are really just a bunch of cowards trying to be accepted by those in high places. I'm here to stop...
