I visited this church for a concert by the Dvořák Symphony Orchestra Prague. From the outside, the architecture looks quite modest, so I was surprised to see such stunning sculptures and paintings decorating the interior. The concert lasted about an hour, and the seating area was heated, which was a lovely touch. The church’s acoustics are absolutely incredible! Listening to soprano Vanda Šípová’s flawless voice and Zdeněk Pechoušek’s breathtaking solos made the experience even more memorable. One cultural difference I found interesting is that, unlike back home where both the orchestra and soloists usually wear formal attire, here everyone performed in casual clothing, which gave the concert a relaxed and approachable vibe.

The Church of St. Elias in Prague is a Baroque church with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Originally Gothic and rebuilt several times, it now impresses with its 18th-century Baroque interior, decorated with frescoes and a magnificent altar. It is also an important centre for the Poles of Prague, being the parish church of the Polish parish of St. John Paul II. Be sure to pay attention to the oldest bell in Prague – “Idzi” – and the legendary portal with a sculpture of a dog with a torch, referring to the story of St. Dominic. The frescoes decorating the interior are by Wenzel Lorenz Rainer, one of the leading Czech Baroque artists, whose remains are buried here.

The church of St. Giles is another stunning church located in Prague and not a far walk from Old Town Square. It was finished being built in 1371 and serves as a Dominican Order church today with the monetary located right across the street. The art and statues inside the church are stunning. The ceilings have stunning paintings on them. This church is another must see when visiting Prague. It is free to enter and they also hold concerts here regularly in Prague. Big clock on the outside of the church as well. I loved my visit and highly recommend.
