What should have been a nice evening out with my husband turned into one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences we've ever had at Apollo Bar. We walked in and were seated at a table - no mention whatsoever about needing reservations. We sat there for a painful 20 minutes watching a waitress repeatedly look our way and deliberately ignore us. When she finally bothered to come over, instead of taking our order, she had the audacity to ask if we had reservations. No apology for the wait, no explanation about their policy - just a cold question. When we explained that nobody told us about reservations when we entered, she curtly told us to either stand outside and wait or move to the garden area. Feeling embarrassed and frustrated, we chose the garden hoping to salvage what was left of our evening. That was a mistake. We spent another 30 minutes sitting outside, completely abandoned. Not a single staff member came to check on us or take our order. We felt invisible and utterly disrespected. We finally gave up and left without ordering anything. The staff's unprofessional attitude and complete disregard for basic customer service standards is unacceptable. Save yourself the disappointment and go literally anywhere else. Apollo Bar clearly doesn't value their...
Read moreThe service at Apollo Bar is so bad that (sadly) it's prompted me to write my first ever restaurant review. I came to Apollo Bar for drinks and some food on a Sunday afternoon. Many servers made eye contact with me when I arrived, but no one spoke to me, so I asked a server passing the door if they had space for one and they said yes, you can sit at the bar, and then showed me to an available seat. For the next fifteen minutes no one gave me a menu, and when I finally flagged down another server to ask for one, they asked if I had been given this bar seat by a server, or if I had just sat down without permission. I told them that yes, of course, I had been directed to sit here. They said "ok," then walked away and never brought me the menu. I finally just asked someone next to me if I could see their menu, but no one came to take my order for another twenty minutes. The chef behind the counter asked me if I was waiting on something and I said actually, no one has taken my order yet, to which he replied "oh, ok" and walked away before I could try to order from him. Since no one would take my order or speak to me except to falsely accuse me of sitting at the bar without permission, I left. Don't go here unless you want...
Read moreMy partner and I went there last week and had the 7 servings menu. We have always loved Apollo for drinks, especially in summer, so we were excited to try their food. FOOD: It was okay but really nothing special. Cannot say we did not like it, but we would not recommend it either nor go back to eat…especially the first course with the “pistachio egg” was quite horrible. The egg was half raw (the white was not cooked), it was cold and the pistachio cream did not taste of pistachio. Radicchio is lovely, but you get serve a few big leaves of radicchio with some condiment with oranges, and it really does not give it justice. However, the poached cod was very nice, well cooked and tasty. Same with the champignon toast, really yummy! Overall, some highs and some lows.
SERVICE: service is quite appalling. We felt sorry for the head waiter who was doing the job for 3 and was actually really nice, as the other two waiters were completely lazy and inattentive. They do not see you if you need them, they do not explain the dishes, and they cannot answer basic questions regarding dietary restrictions as they barely know what is in the plates. Sorry about that because Apollo is otherwise a place with a...
