I am North American and picked this hotel for my travels to Copenhagen. If you are NA based, consider this review:

Rooms & Amenities: I got a basic room and it will feel a bit small and cramped, but is fine otherwise. You can hear other people through the walls though so if you have a problem hearing your neighbors having loud sex, this might not be the one as that was our experience, but tbh idk how many hotels avoid this issue.

Other than that, this hotel does have a nice gym and swimming pool. It is a bit confusing to find so ask for instructions if needed. There are also multiple restaurants in this hotel and the one I would recommend is Sticks N Sushi. Breakfast is extremely pricey without some sort of package deal in my opinion.

Service: This one was probably my biggest gripe. There were certainly plenty of kind staff who helped us throughout our trip, and I'm not the type of person who is a Karen about staff but this did bother me quite a bit. I had two instances of rude treatment from staff. Firstly, one of the waiters at the Brasserie lectured my girlfriend while she was asking a question because we sat down to eat at one of the tables when we weren't supposed to. If it's policy, fine, but no need to be rude about it, that's ridiculous.

Secondly, the taxi drivers outside - which is normally a cool feature for a hotel except I had a bad experience with them and I probably would not recommend them for North Americans. We had an incident with one taxi driver that started with a language barrier, which I thought wouldn't be an issue since I could just show the address of where I'm going. They started getting agitated while speaking Danish, and when I tried to respond, they drove off fast while I was mid-sentence and also very close to the car. That is dangerous, rude, and completely unacceptable. I know taxi drivers have a tendency to suck everywhere but that was actually ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend them anyway because they really nickel and dime you with their meter.

Location - Other than that, location was fine. You can walk to the rest of the city but sometimes the walk can be lengthy depending on which part of the city you want to go to. Consider planning that out or taking longer excursions where you do everything at once.

Overall - If you like being at a professional hotel somewhat close to the city with good amenities like gym/pool/restaurants, this might be for you. However, my experiences with some service felt like they had a hint of racism/xenophobia in it so this might be tough if you're not a native speaker. Just...

🚨 APPALLING Treatment - Staff Invaded Privacy, Then Slandered & Threatened Us! 🚨

Rating: 1 / 10

Review:

This was not just a bad stay; it was the most shocking, unethical, and professionally disastrous hotel experience of my life. I am writing this review to warn all potential guests to avoid this hotel at all costs. The management's conduct is utterly reprehensible.

The Incident & The Hotel's Malicious Response:

Gross Privacy Invasion: On our final day at 10:15 AM (with an 11:00 AM check-out time), a housekeeping staff member did not knock, did not wait for a response, and did not announce herself. She used her master key and forcefully opened our door without consent. At that moment, my girlfriend was naked in the shower, and I was not fully dressed. This was a deeply violating and traumatic invasion of our privacy.

Slanderous Accusations & Victim-Blaming: When we rightfully complained about this severe breach of protocol, the hotel's response was beyond belief. Instead of apologizing, a staff member fabricated lies to blame us. They had the audacity to claim that the incident happened because I "was not fully dressed" and that I had "shouted at the employee." These are blatant, malicious lies intended to cover up their employee's mistake and discredit us.

Threats and Expulsion: To our absolute horror, the hotel management refused to accept our complaint or listen to a single word we said. They did not investigate. They did not apologize. In a final act of intimidation, they forcibly ejected us from the hotel premises and threatened to call the police on us if we did not leave immediately. We were treated like criminals for being victims of their incompetence.

This hotel is fundamentally broken:

Zero Privacy & Security: Basic safety protocols are non-existent. Zero Integrity: Management resorts to slander and lies instead of taking responsibility. Zero Customer Service: Their solution to a complaint is threats and expulsion.

Final Warning to All Travelers: DO NOT STAY HERE. Your privacy, safety, and dignity are not respected. If anything goes wrong, you will not be helped—you will be blamed, slandered, and threatened. This business operates in bad faith and is a danger to its guests.

I will be pursuing formal complaints with the relevant tourism authorities and consumer protection agencies. This matter...

I have just returned from a family city break in Copenhagen. The place was pretty booked up in the peak tourist season and the Tivoli was one of the few places available that could accommodate us (it's quite a big hotel). To be honest, I wasn't too thrilled at the prospect of staying in a conference hotel sandwiched between the train tracks and a main highway out of town. How wrong I was. We arrived mid morning from a seriously early flight from London. Check-in is at 3pm. No problem. I realise we were lucky, but we were given immediate access to both our rooms by a charming and helpful check-in guy. We also were allowed a slightly late checkout when we left today (normal checkout is an already quite generous 12pm). I realise this is not always possible, but I got the sense that they really want to please their guests if at all possible. Yes, the rooms are not huge but when you are in Copenhagen, how much time are you spending in your room? They are well-designed and nicely appointed. Our beds were deliciously comfortable and gave us 3 nights of perfect sleep. The rooms were quiet and, as it happened, we had a partial view of the water between two of the buildings opposite. Indeed, there was a properly opening window, well, door, but with a glass barrier to stop you falling out. Having both aircon and an opening window for the breeze is quite rare in this sort of hotel. We didn't use all the facilities, but the skybar is pretty cool with great views - the prefect place for a sundowner. Any complaints? Not really, but being a bit cynical, I think the business of not automatically getting your room cleaned unless you ask is probably more about profits than the environment, but we didn't miss it and COVID will have left a pretty big hole in the accounts - we all need to do our bit. Lots of hotels do this now. Also, we didn't sample the breakfast at Kr190 a head, which is pretty steep, but then most of the people in the breakfast room will be on company expenses and facing a day of meetings so fair play. They don't get to try out the many great places within 20 minutes' walk up the beautiful canal. When I return to this beautiful city, I will not hesitate to book in again at the Tivoli. A big hotel that feels like a small one. Thanks for...

This is not a quaint Copenhagen hotel, this is a large commercial business hotel. It was way too crowded. The elevators were always full, packed like sardines. I took the stairs on several occasions because I was tired of waiting for an elevator. The crib we asked for wasn’t set up in our room, I had to ask three times before they got it in there. They put it in there during dinner and when we came back it smelled like someone had taken a poop in our bathroom. There is just something very unpleasant about the staff using our room to do that. You expect the room to be cleaned and left to be used by only you and not just anyone. Otherwise why even get a hotel with a private bathroom. The pillows were the worst pillows I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. They were like loose cotton clumps that shifted from side to side leaving your head with only pillow case. I found the staff to be a bit brusque. The burger at brassiere restaurant was good, pricey. The pizza was strange and no one in my family ate it. The playrooms were a nice touch, and the only redeeming quality about the hotel. I wouldn’t book here again and unless you like weird commercial vibe where you can feel yourself being squeezed for money. The pool was also very crowded and we didn’t use it.
