Visited ÅBEN Brewery, in Copenhagen and tried their beer tasting experience. It was a solid way to spend a couple of hours—laid-back atmosphere, helpful staff, and some really good beer paired with interesting food.
They served three beers as part of the tasting:
Pilsner Light, crisp, and super easy to drink.
Bryg 61 – Hazy IPA This one was juicy and full of tropical flavours—mango, citrus, maybe even a bit of pineapple.
Fruited Berliner Weisse (Sour) This was the most unusual beer of the three—fruity, sour, a little sharp—but refreshing.
These were paired with snack dishes sourdough beer-battered pastry called Æbleskive filled with fried cod and a yeast cream, (fancy, but it tasted great); Grilled Chicken in miso BBQ and tonkatsu sauce, with some carrot and pistachio stuff on the side (it was amazing); Mascarpone Ice Cream and a mix of yuzu mousse, lemon grass, millet and yoghurt (a bit out there, but actually worked); Venison Tartare and Langoustine were also part of the sharing menu, and both were tasty and well-prepared (bit on the fancier side)
Overall: The beer tasting was fun and felt well thought out. The staff were friendly and explained everything without making it too technical. The food was creative but still enjoyable, even if you’re not used to Nordic flavours.
Would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re into craft beer or just want to try something different while in Copenhagen. Not pretentious, just good beer and good food in a...
Read moreLast night in a wonderful city of Copenhagen celebrated with a meal at this place. We had a sharing menu and were amazed by each dish. The complexity of flavours, the unique take on each dish including your standard (nothing about it was ordinary) beef tartare were phenomenal. Can’t praise enough, thank you to the head chef for inventing such beautiful combinations. Truly amazed and that comes from someone not easily pleased. The desert (sorrel jogurt honey sorbet) was heavenly. Probably one of my top deserts I have ever eaten. This meal will stay with us forever. Price is adequate to the quality of food. Staff friendly. Venue very laid back and chilled , cool ambience being in a brewery. Open kitchen adds to the experience. Non pretentious- how the good food should be. Beers were ok but food takes 1st...
Read moreWent to the restaurant: Very cool - great food, great beers, and a nice place among the brewery. Plenty of regular tables, but also some nice spots at the bar where you can watch the chefs preparing your food and chat to them. All the food was delicious, especially the ˋæbleskivé and the tartar. The service was very much off when we were there: slow, beer-menu was always out of sync with food, no descriptions of food whatsoever, nobody watching the incoming guests, and dirty service kept on tables for ages. The food was very good and chefs where nice, so maybe a night...
