The Russian owner is a racist. Yesterday, seeing that all three outdoor tables near the cafe were free, I sat down at one and started eating a khachapuri I had bought nearby. When I had almost finished, the owner came running and informed me in Russian that the cafe was his. I speak Russian fluently, so I congratulated him on this and offered to buy a coffee from him. His response was that his product was special, unique, and that I didn't fit the status of either his product or his establishment. He again asked me to move, pointing to a Turkish restaurant on the opposite side of the street. The owner also added several times that the cafe was his and that he had his own selection of clients. In response, I said that neither the city, nor the cafe, nor even the air in Tbilisi was his property, nor even mine, although I was born and raised here. After that, I politely informed him that I wouldn't go anywhere until I finished eating. Upset, he retreated into "his" cafe. After finishing the khachapuri and leaving the trash (napkins and a cup) on the table of "his" cafe, I left. I hope that this racist always encounters calm and peace-loving...
Read moreDecided to take a coffee yesterday with my husband since we live here and always explore new places. Unfortunately, female barista was extremely rude and irritated because I started to talk to her in Russian. The ONLY reason I did so, because she spoke Russian fluently with the client before me. Girl, work with your attitude, I can speak with you in three languages and picked the one you've just talked. It's just a way of communication. Especially, it's a huge contrast with a male barista who I met when I first visited this place after work. He was really nice, we had a positive small talk in English and after that continued one in Russian.
Georgia is really multicultural place, you never know from where your client is, be kind and respectful, that's the basics of easiest service and at least etiquette🙂
The coffee was awesome btw, price is regular and perfect for the coffee which is really tasty, so I disagree with the comments about the high price, but there are more places to visit with the...
Read moreThe best speciality cafe in Tbilisi. The location was ideal for me, it's central and in the old town, and only two minutes walking distance from my hotel and the freedom square. I got my coffee twice daily from there during my stay. The barista, Kostas, was very friendly to me and was talkative, he gave me nice suggestions for places to try out for food and drinks while I was there. We even talked about travel trips and how much we both love the Greek island Crete, I remember he should be there in September and I hope he's enjoying his time there. The coffee was delicious and the service was quick and excellent. The price was great for the coffee. I highly recommend this place if you're staying near...
