We stayed at the Wyndham in March of 2022.
As a society, we are so quick to leave negative reviews, that I’m making it a point to go back and leave positive reviews as well.
We drove in from Pennsylvania, had a few days at Pop Century & Disney World, then headed to the Wyndham for some rest & relaxion after walking all those miles at Disney.
Booking the Wyndham was a smart move. The year prior we stayed at Hotel Cabana in Clearwater- and while our experience there was incredible, our daughter wanted to stay somewhere up high. After quite a bit of research we settled on Wyndham.
Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, so we hung out in and outdoor sitting area while we waited. It was a rainy & chilly day, but we were out of the elements.
Once we got to our room, the first thing we did was check out the views! They must have been doing some repairs as we had some ropes hanging down the back of the building, but it wasn’t that big of a deal.
We had two queen beds, nice sized bathroom, small table and the balcony. After a couple days, we felt a little cramped, but it wasn’t that bad. For reference it was myself, my husband, our 17 yo son and 10 yo daughter. The room was clean, up to date décor wise and we were HIGH up as we had called in and requested.
The pool and deck are perfect. We spent some afternoons there and ordered an appetizer and a couple drinks. The server was hilarious, friendly and on it! My daughter really got a kick out of her. The DJ they had on the deck the day we spent the most time out there had the jams flowing! The pool does get backed and there is a smaller hot tub. From the deck you walk across the road and you’re at the beach. There are public volleyball nets right on the beach and our kids were obsessed with them. We loved that everyone seemed so welcoming to allow these younger kids to join in their games as most playing were college aged.
Staying at the Wyndham, you are paying top notch pricing. It took me a bit to decide if this was the route we were going to take, but I’m glad that we did. Between Hotel Cabana & Wyndham, our Clearwater expectations are now about as high as they could be!
You are in the HUB of Clearwater at the Wyndham! Pier 60 is a hop skip & jump from Wyndham, as well as restaurants & fun things to do. One of our favorite places to dine is Brown Boxer & Jimmy Hula’s. If you’re looking for a great pizza joint King’s Pizza is IT! You are close enough to convenience items like stores that have small grocery stores and any necessities you may need. We handed our car to the valet service and didn’t need it until it was check out time (it DOES cost to park at this hotel).
We didn’t encounter many staff aside from those in the pool area but check in & check out when fine and we were treated great.
Our room was on the corner, and we did not have any noise issues. Most late evenings you could find us sitting on the balcony.
I wish the Wyndham in Clearwater was friendlier on the budget so we could stop back more often, it is quite a splurge for us.
Having a larger pool and hot tub area to fully service the large number of rooms this hotel has would also greatly help.
