I was thinking if writing this was worth it or not, but my experience was really not as I expected it to be on the biggest Black Friday this store claims to have had when I went to CoolKicks for the first time since moving to LA. Never in any store have I had an experience like this because in other places they understand that you aren’t all about the hype and you are in the end of the day a serious-paying customer. I parked on Stanley Av, and stood under the sun for 2 hours before they let me in. I went to Jay and negotiated some Travis Scott Air Maxes at a price that wasn’t a black friday deal because those weren’t for Black Friday. Everyone else was getting Off Whites, Jordans, Pandas, etc for literal CENTS. I went up to the counter and paid my pair because I didn’t want them to sell them to another customer, and I told the security guard my parking expired so I had to run to add some change to my car so I could come back, and get some dunks as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend (also not on the Black Friday deals). He straight-up looked at me like I was a fool or something and just said… “no in-and-out’s”. Then he goes to the door and I confirm with him again because I had just bought a pair of shoes and they kept me waiting outside until my parking expired. He replies “Didn’t you hear the first time?” After ignoring me two times. I said, all right I’ll buy the pair and I’ll leave, but then I though about it and why would I let this store get me into trouble with the law when I can just consume somewhere else where it’s not JUST THE HYPE OF THE NAME. I went to Undisputed Sole in Santa Clarita CA, and got a cheaper pair of Pink Corduroy Low Dunks for my girl back in Mexico. They told me they used to source their pairs to CoolKicksLA! Small world after all, but you lost a customer for acting all cool and got a bad review on your biggest...
Read moreI thought this place was "cool" kicks yet my experience there wasn't cool. The guy Jay didn't show any customer service. He seemed really annoyed and didn't even greet me or say hello. He just gave me a straight faced attitude everyone and there seem cool except for him mavbe I came in on a bad day? But I was hoping to trade the same shoe just for a different size and a smaller size 2 in my size was worth a little more. Plus I had the receipt of the original purchase of where I got them for retail when they didn't even have the receipt for there's. They wanted to charge me an extra $50 just to trade I don't get that. How is that a trade. I came over an hour away using my gas and I was just trying to get them for my girlfriend because that's her size a 5.5 now everyone going is trying to get the size and flip it to make more money was just trying to do an even exchange you guys we're gonna overcharge for that size anyways but honestly, the guy Jay ruined my experience there his energy seemed real negative while everyone else was nice and happy he gave me smart remark, answers, saying how " no one in the world would do an even trade for you" well that's not true because other stores have helped me before in the past doing that I just thought y'all would be cool and we're going to bless me with an even exchange didn't think you guys are gonna charge me an extra 50 bucks just to exchange. BUT I DO WANNA SAY I highly appreciate landyn (lando) the real MVP and actual nice person real good customer service. He's the one I messaged on Instagram about the size he let me know y'all had that size. sucks that he isn't in charge because he had to ask the other guy if he could do the trade Lando you are the nicest one there thank you for at least...
Read moreThe 5 stars are based off my experience over my first visit. The security guard acted like all security guards should act like at work; professional and ask potential customers with what they can help them with. I was asked if I was going in to trade or buy. I was even asked if I wanted to take my bicycle inside but I had a u-lock and locked my bicycle just outside. My visit was only 10 minutes since I already knew what I was picking up.
The employee wasn't great but he wasn't bad at all. I told him what I was there for, paid and enjoyed the rest of my day in the area. I'm someone who messes up shoes fast because of cycling so I decided I'm going to pick up pre-owned shoes from Cool Kicks moving forward.
I recommend browsing the website and look for what you want before visiting. Then pick up what you want like I did. The place has a great atmosphere and it's also a great place to browse but the sneaker scene is more for the current and last generation to enjoy, like I would have over 20 years ago when I was younger. These days I just want to wear shoes I never got a chance to wear when I was in junior high school and high school.
Also the Retro 3's I picked up are great. They're pretty comfortable compared to the other...
