I visited The Shops at Wailea while vacationing in Maui from the mainland. I was looking to do a little shopping and explore some local spots, and this place popped up a lot in travel guides and recommendations. It’s definitely a beautiful shopping center—nicely landscaped, clean, and with that open-air tropical vibe that makes strolling around feel relaxing.
That said, once I got there, it felt more like a tourist trap than an authentic shopping destination. The main draw seems to be the high-end designer stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Prada, which are fine if you’re looking to splurge. But if you’re just casually browsing or hoping to pick up something unique or more local, the options are limited. There are a few art galleries and souvenir shops, but many of them are also super pricey.
I was honestly a little surprised by how expensive everything was across the board—even the casual shops and cafes were charging premium prices. I get that it’s Maui and in a resort area, but it still felt like a bit much. It’s clearly geared toward tourists staying in nearby luxury resorts.
That said, it’s still a nice place to kill some time. Parking was free and easy when I went, and it’s a comfortable spot to walk around, window shop, or grab a coffee. The location is great, and you’re close to a lot of beautiful beaches and resorts, so it’s convenient to swing by if you’re in the area. Just don’t expect any great deals or a huge variety of shops.
Overall, I’d say it’s worth visiting once if you’re nearby, especially if you’re into high-end brands or want to check out the scene—but be ready for...
Read moreThis is the place to be if you’re in search of high end shopping. Nice thing is that you have a good mix from LV and Gucci all the way to Tommy Bahama. Be sure to check this place out while I’m Maui. You don’t have that many areas to choose from in Maui so it’s quite important to note that these Shops are by far the most luxurious area in all of Maui. Something that you may find yourself coming back to many times is the market full of fresh fruit, prepared foods and many other novelty items. If you take the time to stop by here, you will be happy you came out to see what’s going on over on this side of the island. I’m also convinced that the whether is the best right by this part of the island. One of the restaurants serves a tasty breakfast at a really inexpensive price. And that’s a sweet alternative to the options at the local hotels that you may find yourself eating a couple eggs any style for $35 and when you’re done with it and the additional charge you paid $50 for 2 eggs. So definitely check out the local bar here that serves brunch on the mornings. You will be happy I mentioned it. The staff is pretty cool and seem to really know the area well. They are also great for suggestions so be sure to ask them for any additional travel...
Read moreBehold the work of man! A fascinating, most splendid mall - one of which fuses the outdoor majestic beauty of the sub-tropics, adorned with palm trees in the inner court giving it a wonderful, fantastic, uplifting impression - with that of high end name brand designer couture fashion. You have not fully lived until you have strolled through The Shops of Wailea and used your American Express or Visa/MasterCard (but probably not a Discover Card) to purchase all in one visit a Rolex watch, a Louie Vitton purse, a Prada Handbag, a pair of shoes from my favorite: GUCCI - and don't worry, because when you spend $25 or more, the parking in the surrounding private lot is free - just make sure to save your ticket the machine provides upon arrival, and then to feed that same ticket back into the machine upon exit. Otherwise, there is No Exit - such as, if you only buy a honolua drip coffee or just a single box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts and a POG (passion orange guava juice: ie. delicious) at the ABC store - then you may be SOL. And if you need that acronym extrapolated for you, then this may not be the place for you to shop - you may have other problems or lack of comprehension of common executive level business...
