During an impromptu trip to the square in Downtown McKinney, we dropped by one of our favorite old hangouts for a good bite of beef. We've always been pointed towards the McKinney cut--which we've yet to throw on the grill today but which has never disappointed--so the anticipation is still building. Sadly, we used to love grabbing Harold's Dern Hot Pickles--distributed by Conscious Choice out of Dallas. Out of desperation, we purchased Yee-Haw Pickle Co's Hot [...] Dills--out of Crested Butte, Colorado--which were the next most appealing pickles we could find on their shelves. A+ for effort on Local Yocal's behalf but the Yee-Haws unfortunately simply don't stack up in the realm of heat in comparison to Harold's Dern Hots. As for the Ferris Wheel Coffee we snagged--out of Wylie, TX--we will find out in the days to come if we've finally found a local roaster to whom we will pledge our loyalty!

Local Yocal always has the best selection of Angus, Grass Fed, and American Wagyu beef. They have a great selection of other locally raised meats and local products. Buying meat from a regular grocer just doesn't seem appetizing anymore. Their customer service is top notch they have a great reward program and the product is a+. They have weekly deals and sometimes monthly deals that are amazing. We have picked up their 20lb wagyu ground beef package 2 to 3 times at this point. I recommend Local Yocal to anyone that asks where they can find the best meat. I've tried almost every butcher in the Garland, Plano, Frisco, and McKinney area and this has beat out all the rest for us hands down. Can't go wrong here.

I have wanted to attend this store for quite some time. I finally got a chance to go there today, on Black Friday. And well, it's just okay. Oh sure it's great to support locally. I am a fan of that, BUT, I do expect a little friendlier customer service. It was my first time there. No one said "Welcome to Local Yocal. Is this your first time here? Can I help you with anything? Do you have any questions?" Basically, the person ringing up my items didn't say anything to me. Well, he said "hello" when I came in. I asked a couple of questions about the grass fed beef etc... while checking out and he answered, but nothing ever offered. I saw a list and asked if it was the mailing list. He said yes so I signed it. But usually at stores the response is "Yes, this is the mailing list. We usually send out coupons or updates or etc..." and they say it with enthusiasm. Or they make sure to TELL ME to sign it to keep updated with their store vs. me asking about it. I have only been in TX for 2 1/2 years and this is not the TX southern hospitality I have experienced so much since getting here. Which I love. He actually seemed nervous and distant as he waited on me. Oh well, maybe something was going on with him personally. But customer service is very important to me. Anyway, I think I will stick with my other local options at the Farmer's Market directly or the Organic deliver to your door company where they care enough to ask me about my needs. Or heck, Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. Yeah, I know they are pricey and it's not local. But they know my name, they ask about my needs and they are very,...

This is for Local Yocal BBQ and Grill: We went here last night for my husband's birthday with high expectations based on reviews. My friend and I shared the 20 oz bone-in Wagyu ribeye. It was a huge disappointment. It had very little flavor and wasn't tender like ribeyes usually are, in fact, the half that my friend got had quite a bit of gristle. I brought it home and gave it to my dog. We have gotten the meat at their butcher shop before and it was great, so not sure why we got such a poor cut. It was $66, so we definitely had high expectations. They charged us a $3.00 fee to split it and they literally just brought out 2 plates. They didn't split at all. My husband's chicken fried steak was very thin and the breading came off of it immediately. The Dr. Pepper beans are not good. Way too much vinegar flavor.

The green beans and mashed potatoes were good. But substituting sides is a pain. You can't just substitute them. If 2 come on your plate, you only get 1 of the sides that is listed on the menu. They say because they are are bigger portions, which I get, but why not give us the portion side like what came with the meal?

My daughter got the Hamilton Sandwich and that was delicious! We were all wishing we had ordered it. The french fries were very good.

Both of the desserts we had were very good as well. The smoked chocolate mouse and banana pudding pie were also excellent.

Service was also very good. Our ticket was $191 (not including tip) for 4 adults and 1 small child. I would have rather gone to Rick's and spend...

I started going to this shop this last year to buy beef bacon. We usually get it from a normal supermarket but with Covid they aren’t able to receive/order it. However, we actually prefer LY beef bacon much better. I’ve never had an issue coming and getting it...... Usually cleaning out the shelf once or twice a month (6-8 packages). This week I went in on Wednesday and there was none. 2 people helped me a woman (older/gray spiky hair) and a younger fellow. The young guys went back thinking he would be able to cut some for me right then but it wasn’t ready. He directed me to come back in a day or two. I chose to be cautious and come two days later on Friday around the same time I originally tried on Wednesday. I was told it still wasn’t ready and that I needed to call in advance to see when it’s ready by the same lady who helped me before. This is not good customer service. She should have gotten my details to call me when it was ready. I should not have to do her job for her. I worked in a grocery store for 7 years and how she handle the situation was incorrect. I hope this is corrected for...
