I came in to look at loop station pedals and figured I'd learn about them real quick and bring one home.
I asked Lauren at the counter if I could try one of them out. She said she would need to hold my driver's license in order for me to try it out. No problem, I handed it to her. She plugged it in for me, but she knew nothing about what a looper pedal is or does. I was fine with that, too, it would just take me longer to learn how to use it. So, I downloaded the manual for the Boss RC 500. Another person walked up he was very friendly and saw me trying to figure it out. He attempted to show me, but it he also couldn't figure out some basic functions such as how to set the timing. Since we couldn't use the loop pedal on the floor, it wasn't possible to figure out accurate timing without using my feet. So, I had to read the manual further to make sure this was something I or someone in my family could realistically use.
After reading and testing the product for 30 mins, I had set the guitar down next to me to give the manual better read. I downloaded a video to watch a tutorial on YouTube. A random person quickly came up to me and said hey are you done with that guitar? I said I'm not buying the guitar but it's a nice guitar you can try it. She took it away and quickly took away the loop station too. Then I asked her if she was an employee, she said yes. I told her well I wasn't done using the pedal, I thought you wanted to try the guitar. She didn't think to give back the pedal or anything. Then I had to tell her you can't just take that pedal away from me when you are holding my driver's license. She sarcasticly said well I guess I'll have to figure out which one looks like you and get it for you. She did not give me an option to learn about the product anymore, and they certainly were not capable of explaining anything about how it works.
I asked my son if he was interested in trying it so he could make the final decision. Even though I felt like they thought we were potential thieves but I also wanted to buy a microphone for it. I asked Lauren about the microphone selection and she pretended to not hear me. I asked again and she said sorry that's all we got. She didn't even take me to the mics or recommend one. I just wanted a generic all-purpose mic and was interested in the used one. So once again I had to use my phone to review the products. There was a mic stand box that was ripped open on a shelf and I was curious if the desk mount boom stand was compatible with the used mic they had. So I lifted the lid of the ripped box and Lauren told me not to do that. Don't ever open any boxs. It looked like it was meant to be opened because how ripped up it was. I certainly didnt open a new box that hasnt been opened a hundred times. She did not ask me if I had any questions about it. But I think by this point, we both knew that she wouldn't have any product knowledge anyway. So I decided they are not getting my money. However, my son was intrigued by the product and said he thinks he will like it if it's on the floor if he can get a feel for using it.
I figured the only way to test this out without being treated like a thief is to buy it and take it home. If I don't like it, I can return it.
As I went to the register, Lauren was busy. I told the available sales person that I'll buy the rc500. Then Lauren told him it's on her name. So he refused to ring up the sale until she was ready. I told him there is no need to wait for her. She didn't even do anything or know anything about the product. She didn't sell it to me. He said sorry you have to wait for her those are the rules.
Looking back i feel disrespected after buying this product from Lauren at Guitar Center palmdale. I haven't felt these bad vibes in a very long time. I'll be back to return it based on principle.
It's amazing to see sales people that know nothing about their products be so hungry a sale. If I ever come back I will have to work with specific people who are not disrespectful and willing learn the product knowledge to...
Read moreI bought a used guitar from this location for my child. He had saved money from chores and tasks assisting neighbors, did his research on what guitar he wanted, and found this guitar in his price range. He was very excited about it! 24 hours after purchase, I was informed that the guitar had already sold and Guitar Centers system, which I was notified should have automatically updated after the guitar was purchased, did not update. When I talked to customer service, the representative offered me a list of other similar used guitars, all of which were 2-3 times more expensive and obviously out of my child's price range. The representative also informed me that the guitar listed as a "Fender Nashville Telecaster" made in China, actually had a Squier body with a Fender neck, and this was why it was in my kid's price range. There was no indication in the online description about this not being a genuine Fender guitar or of it having a Squier body. The whole situation felt very misleading. Guitar Center offered no suggestions to correct this mistake, with the exception of trying to get us to buy a much more expensive used guitar. My kid was crushed. We will be spending our music making money at the local music store or marketplace and no longer supporting this evil corporate giant. Y'all should do the same!
I wanted to add to this review that the store reached out to see if they could help; however, I was unable to answer. I emailed back to tell them how they could make it right. I had already found the same guitar and I paid the extra money that it cost since this was not my kids fault that the one he found and purchased was not actually available. We made a modest request from Guitar Center and was told that they would contact us back. This was Monday November 18, 2024. They had not responded by Friday, November 22, so I reached out again and they said the store would get back to us soon. It is now Sunday the 24, and I am yet to get any response from Guitar Center on how they will right this unfortunate situation where they not only did not have the guitar we ordered, but also apparently were trying to pass off a guitar with a Squier body and Fender neck as a genuine Fender guitar. Be careful people! Big box stores do not care if they mislead you and they do not want to do anything to fix it when they make mistakes. Support your local music stores! Do not shop at...
Read moreBought a Roland GR-55 with pickup on Sunday 5/24/2020. Took a chance and went early to pick it up, figured I was driving 85 miles and they would have it ready since it showed in stock, "new" and available for curbside pickup. Got there and the red haired female said she tried calling but I didn't leave a number ( lie number one). I looked at my online profile and my number is there. She said it was open box and after prying she said it was a returned item, site said new (lie two) she offered me 20% off I reluctantly agreed, she asked me to hold on and then comes back out and says she can only offer me 5% discount. I rejected offer and asked if I could get one from another store, maybe Hollywood or Sherman Oaks, she said it would have to be cancelled and reordered and my money would be tied up for around a week. She said she could cancel it and my money would be instantly released to me since she didn't complete the order (lie three), I agreed and 4 days later now I'm still trying to get my $875 back. I emailed customer service address provided by PayPal and have not even gotten an auto response saying they received my message. In my opinion the female at Palmdale store lied to me 3 times and now with being ignored by corporate support, I see where the staff gets their bad habits. I think I will buy from Amazon, much easier...
