I have been drinking coffee in Salt Lake for almost a decade at this point and I rarely find myself wanting to leave a review. However, it is now time to review Cupla.
This quaint den hidden from the roar of traffic and the thunder of the city's ever present construction situation was exactly the calm and reserve that I needed starting my week.
When I happened across the signs on the sidewalk, I felt like I was discovering my new favorite coffee shop all over again. Every step of the way down into the cloistered coffee space made me feel like I could really enjoy my experience drinking a cul of coffee.
And boy, how I was right. From the moment I met with the baristas, they took the time to learn my name and introduce the others who employed the space. It wasn't like other coffee shops where you meet just another barista who is taking just another order. I felt like the folks at Cupla were more welcoming than any coffee shop I have ever been a part of.
I have to give a shout out to the baristas for making a point to help bring each person after me into a better state than they came in. Learning names, offering food, and even going so far as to learn what brought people in or how their day was going. Really, this was a different kind of experience.
So why the 4 stars? Why not 5 stars? Here's why. This was my first time. Giving a 5 star review on a first visit is a bit presumptuous. There were probably things that I wasn't noticing, there were probably things that I didn't like but wasn't concious of, and there were probably parts of my experience that could change if I was in a different mood or on a different day. But I anticipate visiting more than once, and if I absolutely cannot find anything that would detract from my experience, I will happily give a 5 star review.
Thank you, Cupla. It feels...
Read moreIf you are looking a coffee shop to make your Instagram followers envious of your posts, this is the place to be. If you want great coffee and food, any other coffee shop/cafe within walking distance is superior.
If I was to review the establishment on aesthetics and customer service, Cupla would easily be 5 stars. The service is stellar and untouchable, friendly and professional. The atmosphere is top notch. Itâs in the basement of a building and there a small glass ceiling that allows you to see the street above. This is pretty awesome and makes the business worth visiting...once.
The espresso is fine, nothing wrong with it, itâs just forgettable . The lavender syrup was overpowering with the London fog. The food while presented beautifully and obviously fresh, it was bland. If I were to come back to this place, I would bring some salt and pepper.
I would recommend other people to visit business at least once for exceptional service and atmosphere, I would also quickly recommend other places that are within walking distance that have better food and/or coffee such as the Rose Establishment, Evaâs Bakery, and Three...
Read moreSadly this was a bad experience. We ordered the egg sandwich on an everything bagel, the cali (avocado) toast, coffee, and a London Fog. The coffee was good. They forgot my London Fog- our food came out and I asked about it and they didnât realize they forgot. It was good once I got it.
The food- they packaged it all to go. We werenât in a hurry and had planned to eat there. Other people had food on plates. Ours came in plastic containers and a plastic bag. We asked for some plates and sat down to eat. We had ordered an everything bagel- it was a plain bagel and the cheese appeared to be America cheese. It wasnât very good and it was overly greasy with over microwaved cheese. The Cali Avocado Toast was listed to have mashed avocado- it was runny and full of lemon juice, like a bad guacamole. Too much pepper flakes and runny avocado- not too mention the too thick white bread toast- it was also not great.
The menu looked good and we wanted to like this place, but all in all, it was mostly terrible. The bright light- the local sticker machine. Other than coffee, I wouldnât eat here again. Terrible food and...
