My parents have lived in Louisville for 25 years and when I visit them I have always shopped at Quest spending a good amount of money (as does my dad and my sister)… including a large expensive backpack within the past year… I do not live in Louisville but am here a fair amount visiting my family… for Christmas my sister gifted me a Patagonia mid weight flannel but it did not fit… I was only here while Quest was closed during the holiday and came on Feb 15 to return the shirt. First he tried to tell me it was bought 4 months ago and I had to explain to him Dec 23 was 7 weeks ago. He then said it’s a cold weather item and they aren’t taking returns and also their return policy is 30 days… I guess this is what you get in a midwestern city for an outdoor store. People who don’t understand outdoor people travel, go exploring, live nomadic etc and if you can’t come to the store within 30 days of purchase “Go sell it online” as the guy told me - in my younger more raucous days I would’ve decked him right there with his snarky comment. Also when I bought my backpack they told me to bring my old one if it’s in good shape for the used gear room… so I asked him about it because it was in my car… again a snarky comment “we aren’t doing that right now”… THIS IS NOT AN OUTDOOR STORE! I came to buy/swap for a new stove I need and this is why people go to REI and other large retailers over mom & pop local spots… I always shop local outdoor shops around the country and South America and I’ve never had a return issue or had a little punk be disrespectful like that… Quest has lost my business, my dad’s business, my sister’s business and my nephew’s business… VERY...
Read moreQuest is an amazing gem in Louisville! As travel enthusiasts, we've found that Quest carries all the brands we need for a great trip. Plus, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
My husband and I purchased the Allpa 35L Travel Pack for a 17-day trip to Europe. As standby travelers, we need to pack light, and this bag made our lives much easier. The best feature of the Allpa 35L Travel Pack is its multiple compartments, which make it easier to keep smaller items in place and quickly locate what we need. The pack also includes its own waterproof cover to protect it from getting soaked in bad weather.
The only downside of this bag is that the waist strap doesn't seem to help much with weight distribution. Despite this, I would still recommend this bag for your travels.
Quest also carries other great brands like Royal Robbins and Keen. I would highly recommend the Royal Robbins Spotless Traveler Tank Dress. When packing for a trip in a carry-on only, I have to be intentional with every item I pack. This dress fits the bill! It packs small, does not hold wrinkles, is flattering, and dries quickly. I also love that it is sleeveless, yet not revealing.
In the picture, I am wearing the Rose Sandal from Keen, which is available at Quest. I've had these shoes for over 6 years and walked thousands of miles in them, and they are still going strong. They wash well and work for both hiking the trails and checking out the sites in the city.
Run, do not walk to Quest for all of your...
Read moreBelow is my original review. Mr. King the owner did contact me very quickly and fixed any issue I had. He only required me to come into the store to exchange or return. Scott sent word of apology. I left converted to a very happy customer. While there, Bobby talked me right into more of the Smart Wool socks. He was also apologetic and very knowledgeable about their products. I will be back to Quest Outdoors..... SOON. A much more personal experience then any of the larger chain outdoor stores Mr. King is a "Stand-up" business owner. Thanks. /////////
(1 star) My first experience and last with Quest Outdoors was at the St. Mathews location. I purchased after dealing with a great sales person a $150.00 pair of Treksta water proof hiking shoes.
The shoe Failed to be water proof as promised. Upon returning to the store, Scott a "manager" chose to make me a very unhappy customer. He let me know that to complete the return the shoe needed to be in like new condition. Scott how could a hiking boot that failed to be waterproof while on my foot be in like new condition? To make matters worse he was aggressive and rude in delivering the news to me, a customer in his mind I would imagine is always wrong. I rate my experience a One because of Scott the only bad employee I came in contact with out of 4 and taking in consideration their evidently very flawed return policy. Would Bass Pro or Cabela's treat me like this?...
