United Escapes of America - Tempe — Attraction in Tempe

Spent my birthday here sadly disappointed my group and I had open minds about this we entered an empty waiting room over filled with EMPTY chairs then we we arrived ON TIME as scheduled we had to wait 10-15 mins for the employees to prepare and fix up room we were scheduled to do (no other customers, not busy at all). Then when they were setting up video for rule tv had stop twice once in beginning and then again at end of video he we had to wait another 10 mins for that to be fix. Then didn’t even know the rules of room because the video was shown all cut and questioned and figured on our own and even the workers attitude matched the place how he explain “this story is boring and old” talking about the intro story of the room. And as we were leaving employee QUICKLY handed bracelets and say good bye and rushed us right out of course before he could I had asked for a refund for the two ticket since two people didn’t arrive the day of but the rest of party did THE EMPLOYEE SAID CALL THE MANGER saying they will take care of you implying they do refund Called manger and they said store credit and when I said I won’t be going back and asked what did I pay for didn’t they didn’t come can’t I have my money back she said she WILL get back to me and never has I’m sure many of you can find a much vibrant place not so gloomy and not so cheap set up and with GREAT customer services and worth your money and NOT A scam with goodwill...

We did the Jail Break room and it wasn't a great experience to say the least. We started the room and almost immediately noticed that a key was in the lock that locked the other cell door. I thought that it was a hidden in plain sight kind of puzzle and the key was supposed to be in the lock. It turned out that the key wasn't supposed to be in the lock and a worker came in after 18 minutes and said "You guys aren't supposed to be out of your cells yet" and put us back in the cell, setting us back to square one while we waited for the other cell to figure their puzzles out. This made us wait for about 5 minutes as me and my girlfriend, as well as our cellmates, tried to coach the other cell into solving their puzzles. We had to wait in our cell despite having already experienced the freedom of escaping. Other locks in our cell were not properly locked from the group before us and we kept solving clues that would only point us in the direction of puzzles we had already solved, an experience that wasn't rewarding in the least. Despite the drawbacks, the room was very nicely decorated and definitely fit the theme. It's just a shame that the puzzles weren't set up properly for the room. If the puzzles were set up properly and the room was put back together from the prior group, I could see this being a rewarding experience like the other reviews suggested, it's just a shame they weren't set up properly...

Edit to my post below: The owner of Zone reached out to me directly with a thorough explanation for my concerns. They apparently took the time to review the footage of our escape attempt to fully figure out what happened. As it turns out, the other couple we were paired with discarded the key without ever using it, which is of course, not of the fault of the setup of the room or Zone at all. I'm adjusting to 5 stars because the experience was seriously a lot of fun and immersive, it was highly rewarding when we did figure out clues and there was no shortage of different types of puzzles we needed to solve. I will be back to try out some of the other rooms.

Original: Honestly, this was super disappointing. We had a 2-for-1 deal so we turned it into a date night and got paired with another cool couple in one of the rooms. Without giving away any details/spoilers from our room, there was a key that we would have found in the first 3 minutes of being in the room that was misplaced and the staff didn't realize to give it to us until minute 50 (of the 60-minute limit). We would have obliterated the solution of the room we were in, but missing this clue made it impossible. I'm okay with losing on things like this, but when it's due to errors, it just didn't leave a good taste...
