Anna was awesome at the front desk. There's another woman at the front desk during the week with shoulder length black curly hair (white or Hispanic) who was rude to my girlfriend when we asked about housekeeping. As is tradition with hotels, this hotel does not do housekeeping unless you request it and every 3 days they will change your bed sheets. You must let them know by 10AM if you want housekeeping that day. I texted about 915 one morning about housekeeping and when we went out and came back just afternoon, we weren't sure what time housekeeping would come around. When my girlfriend asked the above mentioned lady at the front desk about it, she had an attitude and stated she didn't check the phone messages yet that day. That's the type of service that will chase customers away. If management reads this, it is in your best interest to take corrective action with that employee.
The location of the hotel is nice and I was limited in my options when I booked the room in February for our trip in July. After we arrived and I asked for the "crib" that was listed as an option during the reservation, I was told that they only had 1 and it was broken due to a customer. My 2 year old had to sleep with us because of this and that was not ideal at all.
The outside of the hotel presents itself as decent in comparison to the other hotels on the beach. The inside though... the place looks to be uncared for. I have a video from just outside our room where a roof leak was and looking at the ceiling tile, it wasn't new (also pictured).
I don't have pics of the stairwells or the area with the vending machine but those were outdated and uncared for. The ice machine I believe had a leak which formed a small pool in the center of the floor. One of the vending machines gave me a Coke when I pressed the button for bottled water.
The room was big enough but the bathroom was a tight fit. The fridge and microwave both worked fine. The TV worked. The sliding door was very difficult to operate. We had to call maintenance because one time it came off the track. They were upset and initially claimed the door could not be fixed but they managed to fix it. That sliding door required a lot of strength to open and close - there was a lot of sand that was on the track (from before we arrived) so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. One of the outlets built into the desk lamp had no power.
Parking was fine as there was a lot in front of the hotel and a detached parking garage across the street.
One thing that has me amazed is how disgusting the carpeted room floor is. I realize customers walk in and out constantly but this floor couldn't have been steam cleaned in years, if not a decade. Our son was walking around the room barefoot one day and when he laid on the bed, the bottom of his feet were black. My girlfriend wiped his feet on a towel and the towel looked so gross. From that point on we had to tell our toddler not to touch the floor with his hands or lay on it.
The king bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on in a hotel. I woke up every morning with back pain. One side of the bed was slouching downward even with the mattress evenly distributed on the base. One of the pillows had a bunch of knots in it or something.
Aside from location and my check-in experience with Anna, the only other thing this hotel has going for it is the attached Mexican restaurant. That place was phenomenal. The food was always great, the drinks were great, and the staff was great.
The hotel overall seems to be coasting on the name and location alone. People need a place to stay and it's on the beach. It gives me no delight to leave such an awful review. I would only hope someone high up enough sees this and can do some things to take care of the shape this...
Read moreWe checked in on Friday at 4 pm. on two separate occasions, maintenance tried to force their way into the room.
4:30-5pm The first time was because my nieces wanted to see if the temperature could be lowered. They showed up and knocked, but since 2 of them were changing and the youngest was in the shower, the bathrooms were literally right next to the door. The eldest (18) rushed to the door and put the door stopper. Only then did he announce himself as maintenance and was their to check the AC. During this time, they called me. Once he told them he couldn't lower the temperature it's supposedly only set to that temperature, we told him okay thats fine, no big deal.
8:20-8:30pm My nieces were getting ready for bed when they heard someone banging on their door. The eldest went over to check and she sees a man standing outside she goes back to the room and tells her sister (11) and cousin (15) to hide out in the balcony because she didn't know who that man was and was trying to open their door and tried to push pass the door stopper. They were all out in the balcony while my eldest niece was holding the slide door closed while her sister (11) was frightened and crying, and her cousin (15) was having a panic attack over the situation. They called my husband as it was happening, and we rushed to their room and found said man in front of their door. I confronted the man saying why he was banging on my door this late at night. He said, "Oh your room, to which I said yes," he looks at me, then shows me a Google translator from spanish to English saying he's maintenance and was here to check the AC unit. To which I told him in spanish no one called for that, so there should be no reason for him to be there at all.
We ended up switching rooms, but my nieces ended up crashing in our room instead because they were too scared to stay in the new room alone. When morning came, I went to see if I could get a refund for the room we had never used but was told they couldn't help me to come back later for then someone will help me. I ended up coming back, and I started to speak with Nick, and I tried to explain to him what happened and why I wanted the refund. He kept cutting me off, was very dismissing, and was making up excuses for when maintenance came to my nieces room at 8 pm. Supposedly, he said they have maintenance going to each room checking and asking about the AC because they dont want to deal with complaints about the AC from guests. I told him that if that's the case, inform your guests of this, and it shouldn't be happening during the night. That's not appropriate at all to do. Especially if they're entering guests' rooms without permission. He continued to say what my nieces were saying isn't true and that if they truly didn't feel safe, they wouldn't have slept in the establishment at all. When he said this, he was rude and aggressive about it and talking down to me like I didn't understand what he was saying. So I yelled back at him, telling him where in the hell 3 kids were going to go? To the streets? Eventually, the manager of maintenance and housekeeping came and was the same go-around. Us tell him what was happening and his stating that's not what happened that his employees wouldn't make they're way in to the rooms. But it happened twice already. The manager was taken back when my niece (15) had timestamps for when everything happened that night. There's more to the story, but there's only so much you can fit in it
In all, dont stay at this place unless you want maintenance to come into your room unannounced without permission at any time of day. Or have staff belittling you or laughing in your face about the situation they know their in the wrong for. Honestly, it's not even...
Read moreWe booked this room through air bnb. We stayed here September 10th-September 13th 2025. When we first got there to check in, someone was screaming at the front desk and they had to call the police to remove them. That wasn’t a huge deal, you can’t control how people act so we ignore it. The staff was friendly at first. We went to our room, door was very hard to open. Then we go to the balcony and the handle pops off of the door. My husband placed it back on and we continued about our day. We came back later that night to a broken ac, again not a huge deal. We tried to call the front desk, the phone does not work. Now we are getting a little annoyed, but we laughed it off. They tell us they can move us to another room on the same floor or a room three floors down. We chose the room on the same floor as we had a lot of bags. Once we get over there and start unpacking our bags, we realize the beds are smaller than our last room. Now we are irritated, as my husband and I normally sleep with a king bed. But again, we ignored it. We were only here for a few days so we sucked it up and continued trying to have a good time. During our stay we asked about the laundry room and the manager told us they “don’t recommend it” because it frequently breaks and he doesn’t want us to waste our money. So we waited until we left to go to our next air bnb to wash clothes and we have a four year old so we had two trash bags full after three days. After our stay, we are at our next air bnb. My husband notices a charge for $288 on his card. So I call in and the woman says she will have the general manager fix it and then the line disconnects. I give it a day, figuring they know of the issue now. Over night my husband has FIFTEEN charges from this hotel. Luckily our bank flagged it and turned his card off. Before it could be turned off, two charges for $326 went through. So now there is over $650 worth of money missing from our account. I call in again and get the same woman, who I can tell is irritated now. She forgets to put me on hold and I hear her and the general manager sighing and complaining about me calling back in. The general manager gets on the phone and assures me (after 3 minutes of me being on hold) that he has fixed it and after 48 hours it will be put back on my card. We didn’t take any chances and called our bank to dispute it and canceled the whole card out. Now the positives, (there are not many) the location is nice. There is roads and roads of stores and restaurants and things to do. Beware, people will come up to you often to try and sell things. But most of them will have you pay that amount and then tell you that you owe them more before handing you the item. There are also homeless and addicts on the side walk at night. One man was actively using heroin on the side walk in front of an arcade. This stuff happens everywhere, not the hotels fault, but wanted people to be aware of this before bringing their children. I would not stay here again. The money I paid through air bnb was too much after knowing this was my experience. Do not waste your...
