You cannot beat the location. You cannot drive to the hotel (or anywhere in the old town except early morning), so you park in lot P1 just outside the town and lug your luggage on cobblestones, across a bridge and down some streets. Only about 10 minutes to the hotel, but with the suitcases ..ugh. The hotel however is one of the first ones you come to. I don’t know how people would do it if their hotel was on the other side of town or up the hill. Also the hotel is close to everything. Maybe a 5 minute walk to the town square.||The hotel backs up to the river, but you don’t get much of a view from the room (or at least ours). But they have a nice patio for breakfast right on the river. The buffet however was just ok. Nothing special, but ok.||The room was just OK due to some shortcomings with the layout. But it was , clean, comfortable bed, nice desk to work on, enough plugs for all your gadgets, and decent wifi, but not a lot of room to move around as you lose much of the room to the low eves on the 3rd floor,…. and you bump your head all the time (and I am only 5’ 6”). Particularly in the bathroom. Take a towel off the rack…bump your head. Throw something into the trash can. Bump your head. I moved the trash can in the bathroom from the corner under one of the really low eves, to next to the sink to avoid bumping my head, and the housekeeper moved it back. ||In the main room, the bed is not centered but closer to the outside wall with the eves, due to a couch they put on the opposite wall. if you are on the side of the bed next to the eves, be prepared to bump your head getting out of bed. And if you are on the other side, next to the couch, my legs barely fit between the bed and the couch. I had to shuffle sideways to get in and out of bed.|| If they got rid of that big couch, and moved the bed over a foot or two more towards the center, it would help. (and that couch, we used it simply to put our some of our luggage so would have been much better without the couch )||While the bathroom is fairly large, with a ledge you can put your stuff on (albeit on the other side of the room from the sink). But with the eves, you lose probably 5’ of the room as unusable. Also, they have a relatively small sink. The water is so forceful and sink so small the water shoots out of the sink all over you. The shower on the other hand, has no water pressure, and, due to others using their showers, the water would go hot and cold…of course when you have soap in your eyes. ||The website photos generally match the accommodations, but the perspective is off so you don’t realize how low the eves are or how crowded the room is with the furniture.||Would I stay here again? Yes. Despite the shortcomings and bumps on my head, the location was perfect, service good, bed comfortable and...
Read moreBeautiful place to stay, however the experience was completely ruined by the manager and situation.
We had booked 2x seperate rooms and in the middle of the night (around 1am) water started pouring into one of them and flooded the room. The water was coming through the lights in the ceiling and caused the power in the whole hotel to short and switch off. Reception also closes quite early, so no one is there to assist with problems.
The following morning staff were running through the room as well as repair men etc.
When it came to check out at 10am, we were offered free parking for the night as compensation (13£) after spending 300£ for the 2X rooms.
I did not find this acceptable compensation and said so. The lady at reception (was very lovely) went and spoke with the manager and came back and offered a 10% discount.
Again, not acceptable as the one room was completely unusable and was not able to be slept in.
The manager was “too busy” to come down and speak with me. I refused the 10% discount and she eventually came down, pretended that she didn’t speak English. She was extremely rude and abrupt and was screaming and yelling at me and in her anger magically, she could speak English all of a sudden. (Cesky krumlov is very much a tourist destination).
I understand that problems occur sometimes that are out of our control, but it’s how you deal with them in a customer service role that makes a difference.
I don’t appreciate being spoken to like that. It certainly is not my problem as a paying customer that the hotel was not up to standard and had issues during our stay.
She finally agreed to not charge us for one of the rooms reluctantly after lots of arguing.
Thanks again to the receptionist, it was not her fault and she was very lovely...
Read moreWe paid for a river view upgraded room and were given room 208. Technically the room does have a river view, but it’s not really usable. The window is right in front of the bed, but too high so you can’t see the river from the bed, you’d have to stand in the small space available in front of the bed to see it, which is not practical for any length of time. We had assumed river view means a balcony but it doesn’t. The rooms next to us did have a balcony but beware that smoking is permitted on the balcony and people were smoking so if smoke bothers you the balcony may not be usable. The room is also extremely noisy. There is something wrong with the insulation (or it’s nonexistent) so you can hear sounds from neighbors above, next to and below the room. Earplugs are necessary unless you are unbothered by noise. This was true even though we were there in the middle of the week, the hotel was not full and the bar next door was not operating (operates Thursday through Sunday apparently). I imagine it would’ve been far worse otherwise. |Adequate breakfast, though some of the baked goods were stale and the selection was small. Nice terrace next to the river available for breakfast but closed afterwards. Convenient location but there are plenty of lodgings in excellent locations in this gorgeous and amazing town. Disappointing hotel. Small room, noisy and spartan furnishings. No real grounds, Just a place to sleep and...
