Review of Fono Apartments, Prague
I’ll start with the positives: the Fono Apartments themselves are fantastic — clean, modern, and in an absolutely awesome location right in the heart of Prague. If you’re looking to be close to everything, you really can’t beat it.
However, this is unfortunately where the positives end for us.
What isn’t made clear at the time of booking is that the apartments are located directly above a bar that stays open all night. Between the noise from patrons late into the night and deliveries arriving early in the morning, getting a good night’s sleep was nearly impossible.
I raised this with the accommodation provider and, while I did receive a response, it felt more like a deflection than a solution. I was essentially told that the bar isn’t breaking any laws, and therefore there’s nothing they can do — which may be true, but it doesn’t help guests who are expecting a restful stay.
In my opinion, it would be far more honest and helpful if they disclosed this noise issue clearly in the booking description. That way, travelers who are light sleepers or seeking a more peaceful stay can make an informed decision — I know I would have chosen differently if I’d been aware.
This review is just a heads-up for future guests: the apartments are great, but be aware of the noise situation...
Read moreThe room was very big, pretty clean and very nice to stay in. Very well located, we thought we had something very good for the price. Unfortunately, sleeping there is a challenge. If you are coming for tourism and not to party hard until early morning : RUN AWAY. The bar (11pm-9am then beer kegs thrown on the pavement + louder music, yes it’s possible) is surely mentioned, but there is a huge difference between being above a bar and IN a bar. Music, smells, conversations…you have it all from your bed! And I believe our appartement was pretty ok since it was not the closest from the noise. I have a very hard time to believe that there are only crazy good reviews, since you CAN’T sleep. Bonus ? Check out at 10:30 (but cleaning lady knocking twice before that), can’t even catch up the sleep! The staff is not even particularly friendly, surely there are some similar rooms in Prague where you can actually sleep. Could hardly recommend less this...
Read moreThere's a bar downstairs that's open from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. Our first night was horrible, we woke up because of the people screaming from downstairs. There's a door separating the kitchen and living room, but it doesn't close properly, so the noise can still be heard. As for the street, there are people standing around talking loudly right at the entrance, which makes the situation worse.
The location is good, as it's practically in the center and close to everything. However, this information about the bar and the noise should be communicated to guests before booking.
If you don't want a good night's rest, this is the place for you. Otherwise, there are other options in the city within the same...
