The Heart of Prague's Charm We’re talking about Café Platýz, right in the center of Prague. This place? It's like stepping into an old Prague tale – an inner block that's pure magic.
Authenticity meets coziness It screams authentic Prague, not a tourist trap. Think first-republic décor that's totally Czech and totally cool. The vibe is cozy, intimate, yet buzzing because let's face it – their kitchen is fire. Dim lights, huge windows, it’s like being in a snug cocoon even when it's packed.
Flavor town explosion The menu? It’s a trip. We had American char, literally melting in the mouth with veggies and potatoes – light, fresh, a dance of flavors. My dish? Duck breasts with apple and heavenly creamy potato mash. Every bite was a flavor bomb – juicy, rich, and that apple twist, pure genius. And the creme brulee, just the right kind of sweet, with a crispy top and mint for that zing. Don't even get me started on the sparkling wine – yum!
Smiles all around The service was top-notch, as always. Not stiff, but friendly without being overbearing. Personalized service – you’re talking to David and Maria, not just any server. Their smiles and genuine interest in providing great service were the cherry on top.
First-Republic flair and fair prices This place nails the first-republic style. It's authentic, right in the heart of Prague, and the pricing? Spot on. You get top-notch food without feeling like you're being ripped off. It's the perfect balance – fair prices for fantastic food.
Final Verdict: Must-Visit! Absolutely, go visit Café Platýz! But hey, save some room for me and my partner, alright? This spot deserves all the visits it gets – and we've been there multiple times and will...

I saw a picture of a dessert in an ad about Prague city that looked incredible, I didn't know what it was or where to get it. After some digging I found it was from this place so decided to go.
I asked the waiter and it turns out it was the famous Apple Strudel with Cream, so I ordered one without hesitation. The pastry was really good, with nice slices of apple and soft texture, and the meringue and the cream were velvety and not too sweet.
I also ordered a black coffee which was good and a chocolate cake which was amazing, the exterior was soft and crumbly and the chocolate ganache was so creamy, it melted in my mouth.
The service was adequate, but the place is a little dark, I looked for tables outside but there were none available. My companions had light and dark beer, they said it was good but strong tasting.
Definitely a recommended place to grab a coffee and a well made dessert. I didn't try the...
Read moreI visited for coffee and cake with my partner, my children and their partners. Unfortunately, a member of staff was incredibly rude. We ordered 3 coffees and then requested 1 extra. The server said we ordered 4 and 1 extra. When I disputed this, she pointed in my direction, raised her voice and gave me little room to explain. Another member of staff came over and told her that we had ordered 4 coffees in total. This second member of staff was then also shouted at. The anger shown by the staff member was excessive, considering the dispute was over 1 coffee, which we happily would have kept if it weren't for the immediate attitude we encountered. In the presence of a family, including my teenager and 2 year old, this behaviour is unexceptable. The restaurant itself, the coffee, and the desserts, are really good... but our experience was ruined by one woman who should not be displaying this level of anger in a customer service...
