SOLO TRAVELERS: Please beware of Economy Single (Room 01).
My lovely room is located next to the luggage room, the kitchen, and a plastic rooftop for when it rains. The window is thin enough to make sure you stay as close as possible to nature.
The room itself smells as if it alone has 600 years of history, a very unique time machine. I saw crawling creatures on the carpet, too; seldom do I feel so surrounded by nature's wonders.
During rainy nights, you can expect a poetic awakening to the magnified sound effects of rain drops. Hereby I would like to offer my praise for Ms. Sarah, a cordial lady at the reception who kindly offered me a lesson on how us fragile human beings cannot alter weather conditions, and how lucky we are to be able to listen to the powerful sound of heavy rain, all night through.
I also thank her for pointing out that, my excessive sensitivity is the key reason why I stayed awake enjoying the sound of rain all night. She spoke to other guests, who were overjoyed by the 5-star hotel quality of their room, and returned to me to confirm that I was asking a trifle much. I am confidently reassured that my room is the quietest in the whole hotel, no other sounds could be heard.
Her words carry such power and strength, which made me cry out of a mix of shame and appreciation at the reception desk.
In addition, when I first arrived at the breakfast buffet (where food is served on bookshelf-lookalikes), I mistakenly lifted a spoon to serve my hungry soul some over-buttered vegetables. A blond lady beautifully rushed to the area, took the serving spoon, and casted a long, hot, flaming stare.
I could almost faint in such affection and care - I wish there was a simple sign saying “Please wait to be served”; I mean, I really almost misunderstood their selfless love and passion for control.
As this life lesson taught me so much, I will sadly not return to Old Prague Hotel, because I am embarking on a journey to fill my distorted, empty soul.
I would like to sincerely invite Ms. Sarah and all other staff to stay at the Economy Single room during rainy nights, to also immerse their beautiful minds in nature’s...
Read moreThe Old Prague Hotel is right on the edge of all the hustle and bustle. It's just a block or two away. It is a very close, quiet respite from the marauding throngs. Generally, I don't like to stay in hotels...but....I like this hotel. Right when we walked into the lobby I felt the same stately old time charm that is outside the front door. The very same charm that attracts people to that area of Prague. The staff at the front desk? Yes, just as charming. Good wonderful people. Again, I don't like to stay in hotels. I am strict in my requirements. I want a comfortable bed, clean carpet and a SPOTLESS BATHROOM. OPH exceeded my requirements. The carpet was clean and the room did not have that "what did they use to clean this place odor?." The mattress was firm. Not rock hard firm, comfortable firm. The sheets were soft....nice to cozy between with my wife. The ambient room temperature was just right. Not hot or cold at any time of day. Now for the part that pushed my review to five stars. THE BATHROOM WAS AWESOME !! Like brand new clean awesome. Seriously, the bath is updated new, tiled and very, very spotless. Listen, I've stayed in hotels where I would have rather hosed off outside than to use the bathtub/shower combo. The bathroom in our room at the Old Prague Hotel was spot on perfect. OPH serves a mighty fine breakfast in the morning. It's serve yourself buffet style...good!! There were eggs, meats, potatoes, yogurts, juices, teas, cheeses, breads and pastries and more. Get yourself proper full before you start your long day, The best part was a big carafe of hot coffee at each table. YES!!!!! I'm trying to think of any drawbacks to our stay at the OPH. the only one that comes to mind is that it does not have the sound insulation of a modern sterile hotel. You can hear other guests doors shut at different hours of the night if you are a light sleeper like me. But the Old Prague Hotel has old world charm. Smile and go back to sleep. I WILL stay here again when I return. I encourage you to try it too. I really...
Read moreThe location is nice and the breakfast was impressive. However , I think the hygiene and customer service is very poor. I have found bed bugs and fleas on my bed. As they don’t have 24hour reception, i can’t get it solved when the problem was found. When I checked out, I decided not to complain to the receptionist for several reasons: (1) she was occupied by other guest to help them book taxi (2) they have dinning table set aside the receptionist desk and there were people having breakfast I hence didn’t wanna make a scene and cause panic in order to protect the hotel reputation and not make other guests feel disgusted.
I filed a complaint to bookingand sent photos as evidence. The hotel , on the other hand, refused to recognise the legitimacy of my video and photos and implying to booking.come that they rejected to my request.
It feels like they think I was blackmailing them. I’m not appreciating such an arrogant manner and bad attitude.
Hence I decided to share my experience here and attach the photos and video. Making the aware of the level of their hygiene condition and the work they...
