Room is tidy, however the worst part is the breakfast experiences...First, no one comes and greet nor sit you down. I was there around 9:00 at the busy time. I understand that you need to wait a bit around that time but no one ever care..lucky thing is a few of my friends came earlier and has a free seats open for me. Just after my friend left the table, the staff came and start to clean the table very roughly and noisy. They didn't even bother to ask whether it's finished or not. And didn't even greet a bit before cleaning in your face. It's like trying to make you pissed and forcing you to leave the table too. So i sit there and observe a bit on how they work. And guess what, they don't give a damn!! The waitress and manager for the restaurant, shows no pride in their works. The waitress just wipe every crumbs and bits right on to the floor when i could still see bits flying everywhere, female manager talks loud and shows no friendlyness on her face. Common , it's only 9am!! I don't know if it's a local spirit or what, as an Asian myself, I don't feel welcome sitting in the breakfast place. They just think as I am invisible to them and do all their jobs with poker face with lots of noise and very rough when walking and cleaning..so within 2 mins of observations, even me felt awkward myself in that space..worst breakfast experiences ever, so I could not stand one more minute there and left without even have my morning coffee. However, the location is perfect to get around, but if you have to pay extra for the hotel breakfast, my recommendation is No!! It will totally ruin your day. Btw, they have an Italian restaurant on ground floor too, our group tried it on the first night, it taste like food from a public school canteen.. not a good choice for Sunday evening out...
Read moreWe booked the Metropol through a BA city break deal. I read the various TripAdvisor and Google reviews, most of the low ratings were due to the rooms not having a view. We decided to upgrade our room so emailed the hotel. This first response set the standard for the hotel, they were very quick to reply, polite and efficient. Having paid a little extra (€35 a night) for a room with a view, upon arrival we were booked into room #807. If you’re going here you could do no better than to request this room. Great views over the city and close to the roof terrace. Breakfast is a buffet deal with hot and cold food on offer. I can highly recommend the granola with yoghurt. There is also a cafe near reception serving coffees and cake. The room was clean and tidy with a good sized bathroom for the four days we were there. The hotel is perfectly situated, being as it is in walking distance for all the standard tourist attractions. If you want to go further afield it’s just a short walk to the Metro station where you can also get one of the many trams. There is free WiFi though out the hotel and a single (slow) lift to all floors. A highly recommended hotel and we will be staying here again when we go...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience — never again. The reception staff were absolutely pathetic — extremely rude with a huge attitude problem and lacking even the most basic knowledge of customer service or how to handle payments. One of the receptionists was slouching at the desk during check-in, showing no respect or professionalism, and was unable to issue a proper receipt. The cleaning staff didn’t even greet guests when meeting them in common areas, which added to the overall sense of disrespect and poor service. The hotel was also incredibly noisy. I travel very frequently, and this was by far my worst hotel experience to date. I definitely do not recommend this accommodation. Due to the staff’s incompetence and the overall poor conditions, I was only able to sleep for 3 hours. This stay severely impacted my well-being, and I believe I am entitled to a full refund. It is unacceptable to pay for a service that fails on every basic level — from noise levels to staff behavior and...
