I was greated by a nice lady behind the reception desk when I arrived who made me feel very welcome & was pleasantly suprised when I saw my room & the toilet & shower. They were all very clean & tidy. The hallways are quite narrow & boring but that doesn't matter too much as it's not like you're going to be spending much time in them. On my first night I kept getting woken up by other guests but that's of course not the hotels fault & by the second & third night it was much better (except getting woken up at around 5am by the sound of the men collecting the bins but at least this was only for a couple of minutes). The hotel is right near Tivoli & the main Copenhagen station which is ideal, and not near enough that you can hear the tracks. It's right next to the red light district but if you only walk towards the station you will avoid it (however I walked right through it at at nearly 10pm on my own as I didn't realise it was there & not one person troubles you and it doesn't feel completely unsafe). Breakfast was great & though a bit pricey 75kr there was a lot of varity & you can eat as much as you like. However I was asked my room number so they could charge it to my room, then when I told them they asked to see my room card to check. I didn't mind this at all, but you can imagine how annoying it was when I heard them ask other guests there room number but didn't ask to check their cards. This happened on both morning's I had breakfast. I would have let that slide if it wasn't for the totally & complete rudeness of one of the kitchen staff. The gentleman there was very nice & one of the other ladies was plesent enough but one of the ladies with short blond hair around her late 30's & about 5' 6 was just awful. While I was just finishing off my breakfast she stormed up to me from the kitchen & declared "We're closed!" & gestured wildly with her arms at me then stood there and just stared at me looking extremely aggressive, until I simply replied ok & she stormed off again back to the kitchen. There were plenty of other guests still eating right there but she said nothing to them. And on top of it when I looked at the time it wasn't even half past 10 yet (which is when they close breakfast) and like I said I had almost finished eating. Later that day when I was coming down the stairs she came from one of the corridors & was heading down the stairs too she cut infront of me to walk down the stairs infront of me. I had to stop dead in my tracks so as to not crash into her even though I was there before her & the staircase is enough for 3 people to walk side by side & there was not one other person around. When she got to the bottom of the stairs she turned around & looked at me with the most disgusting scowl I have even seen & went her way. I wish I had spoken to the manager about her when I checked out but instead I will be writing a stiff email about her. Maybe it's people I am a person of colour because I did not see her treat any one else badly like that, except two Chinese girls who asked for hot water in there flasks & she was rude to them too. I'm so upset by how I was treated by this woman and even though everything else was nice, because of her alone I will...
Read moreFrom Copenhagen airport you can get the 5C bus straight into central station (36Krone = €4.70 per person) and this hotel is literally 5 minutes away. Very central, we got placed on the first floor and outside was the Main Street. There was no bathroom in our room which we opt for, for a cheaper alternative. There is no lifts, just stairs. Again on the first floor extremely handy (first floor is also breakfast dining area). The hotel I found absolutely spotless and clean. I was a little hesitant on going the toilet the first night but I didn’t come across anyone at all in the 5 nights I stayed. The bathroom and shower is separate and there is also another toilet on the next hall beside the other two. So plenty to choose from, all bathrooms were stocked up well, spotless and so clean. The beds, duvets and pillows were comfortable, I did find the pillows a little high but after talking to a cleaner she let me choose a pillow that was a little flatter.
I did find the first night extremely noisy (as humans we are adjusting to new surroundings) however, the room got a little hot, so we opened the window but the noise of the bin trucks at all hours (3/4am) is just ridiculous. And getting a food delivery in at 5am is uncalled for 🤦♀️ I also could hear everyone who was using the stairs going up and down. Overall I did find after the first night I adjusted and these noises drowned out. And everyone on the floor was respectful. After 9pm it was so quiet. There is no Netflix or smart TVs but I had a laptop so I could watch English movies.
The breakfast was great 👍 (99Krone = €13/14 per person) some may think this is expensive but some places around coffee alone is €4/5 per person. There was a good variety. Soft / hard boiled eggs, breads, cheese, Brie cheese, cold meats like thin slices of ham, chicken, salami etc - orange juice, apple juice, water, variety of teas, lots of pastries 🤤 and coffee. I thought the machine coffee was sooo good and the breakfast staff was friendly, welcoming, fast and efficient 🙌🏼 The room locked perfectly and we felt safe. Reception staff, to cleaners to breakfast staff were all very accommodating. Overall, it was a good stay and if you are a light sleeper like me, just be aware that there will be loud noises outside.
If things could be implemented or improved in the hotel to make it more modern - I would suggest visible signs on the bathroom when in use, implement Netflix / English movie channels, and for example when previous visitors leave their items behind like shampoo, conditioner, toiletries it would be good to set up a small goodwill basket In the hallway or bathrooms for other guests to use. After been told by a receptionist staff member their was no shampoo available I bought a large bottle of head and shoulders and left it behind in hopes someone might get use of it. ✨ but 🤷♀️ Overall I enjoyed my stay and was much better than I anticipated. I hope this information helps...
Read moreReally bad experience, wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Bad air, probably mold, unhelpful staff & manager, unsafe location. —
During the first day and night me and my friends started getting sore throats, runny noses, itchy eyes, headaches and also started coughing. The one that has severe mold allergy was getting the worst of it. When we were gone even for a little while from our room, the air was very stuffy, heavy and thick when we got back in. Had to keep the window open during all times. There was construction going on outside the hotel and it was really loud during the nights. When we opened the sink cabinet a really bad smell also emerged and the air was stinging. In the common shower the ceiling also had moisture damage.
When we went to the reception, we were told at first that the hotel has full vacancy and there’s nothing they can do. We discussed with staff and also the manager. We were told to open the window and deal with it and when asking ”This will cost me a lot of money or my health?” the manager answered ”yes”. Basically they didn’t believe us and were saying it’s all in our heads.
After discussing for a long time, they agreed to give us a new room the next day. The new room was a bit better but still had to keep the windows open 24 hours a day when it was 13-16 celsius degrees outside. We tried to spend as little time as we could in the room, and the symptoms were always worse after being there for several hours (spending the nights etc.). Had to go to the pharmacy and get allergy medicine for all of us so we could sleep.
The location also wasn’t the best even though it had good public transport connections etc. We saw several sex workers wandering around the corners every night. Also passed some people doing heroin in bright daylight about 40 meters from the hotel on the same street.
Worst part of this experience was the way the manager handled the situation. He had no interest at all in helping us and didn’t take us seriously because he saw as just a group of little girls. The manager was a chauvinist man who belittled us and called us ”girls” even though we’re grown women. Very disappointed, luckily it was only three nights. Hopefully this review will help someone to avoid the same...
