DO NOT STAY HERE!! Stayed here with my partner as I found it on Airbnb, Owner was super friendly at the start with a smile. Rooms were below average, turned aircon on and loads of dust rained down from the unit onto us. This place is his house and is basically a long term living situation for Egyptians and other nationalities even family's. Cats piss everywhere, even on shoes! Rooftop area is disgusting, smells of cats urine, filthy unwashed tables and chairs where they bring you your fried breakfasts. The kitchen was disgusting and filthy, fried foods is all they can cook and on our first night we were welcomed with a full meal with the family. We were not really hungry and the family ate most of the food, we paid for this unknowingly and it was very expensive. Water pressure from the 1st floor shower/bath was dripping, we both laughed as we couldn't believe he had so many people here expecting to use the shower like this! We asked the owner for a tour, all we wanted was a driver for the day just to take us to Sakara and wait for us, this cost us for 2 people $160 ($80) each!!! We were absolutely shocked by this as the entry to everything at the Sakara gate was only $25. Basically we paid $140 just for a driver. The driver was good and helpful, this was a young man who seemed to do all the work around the place, The owner Done sweet F$&* All and his wife done all the cooking, he just turned up when money was to be made and smiled in his fresh clean suit! I would Avoid this place at all costs and don't believe his smug Smile! Lloyd and Katherine, Melbourne Australia

We stayed here for 2 days at the beginning of July 2023. This is my 26th country and first time in Egypt. This hostel (more like homestay!) was one of the best parts of our trip to Egypt and one of the best places I've stayed! We both wished we could have stayed longer. They arranged airport pickup for us and greeted us with tea and fruit. The hospitality and kindness continued all the time we were there. The host family is so welcoming and kind, and the breakfast which was included was delicious. We could never finish all the food! They always offered us tea and coffee in the evening. The rooftop is pretty and the facilities are clean and tidy. The only thing about the room is that the beds are a bit firm, but not uncomfortable. There is hot water and Aircon. Our room had a private bath. I think they have recently remodeled to have bathrooms compared to earlier reviews. The hosts also did our laundry on the last day. The area is safe, but I recommend Uber or a car to get places due to the heat. The brothers of the host can do tours and driving, and we were able to negotiate a very good price for a day trip to Giza, Saqqara, and Memphis. But we didn't feel pressure to go with them; as always in Egypt it's a negotiation! If you're expecting a typical spa tourist hotel with boring surroundings and no interaction with other people, you won't find it here! But you will find kind, local experiences and facilities that are just right for travelers! I can't recommend Jana Hotel enough. We will be coming back the next time we travel to Egypt.

In general, everything was fine, a nice stay. Breakfast on the terrace is also a pleasure. The standard of the room was even ok because it had its own bathroom, wifi and air conditioning, but the kitchen was in a terrible condition and it needed a lot of cleaning and brighter lighting. The host himself is very nice and polite and responds to all messages and needs. After a small suggestion, the breakfasts were improved to be light and delicious, so I highly recommend it. The stay itself was nice and quiet. The room is locked and you can leave your things at the reception even after check-out, and I needed it because my flight was only at 10 p.m. Thanks to their kindness, I could still explore Cairo in peace throughout the day, visit the towers or the museum. For this money and the proximity of the pyramids, which you can see from your bedroom window, I can really recommend such a place because the owner really restores my faith in humanity - everything was kind and he was the only one who didn't try to trick me into anything, he just offered help with a smile - that's probably it the only honest guy I met in Egypt.
