We came here for dinner on our first night in Chamonix, and chose to have the 3 course menu. We both had French onion soup, my husband had the chicken and I had the duck, then for desert he had Tiramisu and I had the chocolate option. The food and service were so good we stopped in for lunch the next day. We were both wet and hungry after hiking in the rain, so had the French Onion Soup again, this time with a garlic pizza and a couple of fabulous Irish Coffees, and the service exceptional. We came back again for dinner that night, this time my husband had the Beef bourguignon and I had the lamb, followed by a Tarte Tartine and a Crème Brûlée. Again we were not disappointed. I have no idea why there are negative reviews for this restaurant our experience was nothing but positive. Note the price paid reflects the fact that we chose a more expensive wine option.

Service- the waitress was okay at best, our table was not under the canope and when it started raining we had to move our food and they did not help. At one point we were given a dirty plate, however was quickly removed. Food- Onion soup-Didnt taste of onion and had a sour taste Pizzas-tasted okay however way too cheesy and felt sick at the end. Dough looked like it couldve been frozen. Lasagna-nice, quite cheesy however burnt on the top, the salad which came with the lasanga was poorly dressed. King prawn dish-was very nice Mussels- were good-maybe slightly overcooked

Le National shines with both its exceptional food and welcoming service. The star of the show was definitely the steak, cooked to perfection! My wife had the delicious beef stew – a perfect option for those seeking a heartier dish. The friendly and attentive staff, further elevates the dining experience at Le National. If you're looking for a memorable meal with impeccable service, Le National should be on your shortlist.

We looked at the menu and we're guided in by the slightly cheaper prices than other restaurants we had previously looked at. The number of people already in the restaurant suggested that it was quite popular, so we took the bait. We were greeted by a friendly chap who suggested we could take any of the empty tables for two. He came over and gave us the food menus. Now, this is where it started to get ropey. It looked like the waiter for the area we were sitting was a different one from the chap who first greeted us. We chose our meals fairly quickly, but could we attract this new waiter's attention? No was the answer. Looking directly at him had the effect of him looking in a different direction and ignoring us. Holding one's arm up had the same effect on him. 20 minutes went by and still no response from this guy. Also, bear in mind that we had been given no drinks menu and we're sitting with nothing for that time. We eventually got a drinks menu from the guy who greeted us and he also took our food order. The drinks menu only showed wine by the bottle, no prices for a glass and no beers, aperitifs or such else. We had to try and get the attention of Monsieur Ignorant again. This time we managed to get him over only to be confronted by the most surly attitude. When we said 'Merci' he made some guttural noise in his throat. No attempt at customer relations. I'm not going to mention the food, it's not worth mentioning. I've given this two stars because at least the first guy who greeted us smiled and...

Never again. if you hate your taste buds come to this restaurant and torture yourself with the most terrible meal you could ever have. I can’t believe I had to pay for the food I barely touched in this place. 🙂

First of all: RUDE waiters. All three of them. the one who took our order didn’t bring the water we asked for and kept whistling loudly while hovering around the place. the one who brought us the food was decent until I asked him why is my dish missing the thyme the meat supposed to be cooked with “it was plain unseasoned meat infront of me” so he started lecturing me about thyme like I didn’t understand what it meant! then offered me a sauce like that’s going to make it better. it didn’t. the third one who got us the check was rude and disrespectful. she made horrible face impressions like somehow she was offended we didn’t finish the food and left it almost untouched. she even continued to talk about us to her colleague. Then she started violently removing everything from the table when we were still gathering our things to leave!

The food was the worst. chicken smelled bad and tasted even worse. plain no seasoning no flavor just bad taste and smell. lamb tasted like fat. just fat. both the chicken and lamb were dry and tough to cut. the gratin was white! yes they served it white, didn’t even wait for the cheap cheese on top to take some color...

I'm absolutely appalled that a restaurant like this should even be allowed to trade!! We went there for dinner with our two children. All four meals were awful. My husband's escalope was something that had been pre-heated from frozen. My salad consisted of limp lettuce leaves, smothered in dressing and just horrible. I literally had a couple of bites and couldn't eat the rest. The pizza was again shockingly bad. The worst part of the evening was the waiter who was unbelievably rude. As soon as he presented us with the bill he asked us very loudly in front of everyone if we will leave a tip. A few minutes prior to us vacating our table the restaurant started to fill up and there was a queue of people waiting sit down (they obviously hadn't been there before). The waiter then stood behind us clapping his hands really loudly to try and get us to leave our table. The, when we left my 6 year old daughter dropped her toy under the table and the waiter stood there giving her the most evil look until she managed to find it. A restaurant who only care about making as much money as possible and nothing...
