This is not a 4 stars hotel by any means. Whoever rated them never stayed there and was super generous with the rating. This is a 2.5 star hotel at best (and that is being generous). Our room had lots of problems starting with the air conditioner that worked intermittently and the control is probably one of the first controls ever made in the world. The power outlet on the left side of the bed is so loose that when you plug something to it, the lights go out. The internet was very slow and keeps dropping the signal, so surfing the web is very slow and streaming was not possible. The shower door did not close all the way, so the bathroom got all wet. Not all power outlets worked. There were lots of mosquitoes in the room. The spring mattress was so old that we could feel the metal springs on some parts of the mattress. The room key (yes only one and not electronic, not a card, but an actual key) has to be left at reception every time you leave the room. There is no iron or ironing board in the hotel, so instead they try to sell you an ironing service. The ground floor rooms, ours included, had dining tables set up right outside the door and we exited and entered our room through the restaurant as the restaurant and bar were literally outside our bedroom door. We could hear some loud patrons having drinks at the bar and dining outside our room. Another ground floor room has the front desk and lobby right outside their door. We took a trip to Verona one morning and needed to leave the hotel before 7:00AM and had to find someone to get the keys to the front door and to the front gate to let us out. Imagine if there is a fire or an emergency requiring evacuation and the front door and gate are under locking key… I don’t think these people ever heard of electronic access control, and the place was recently renovated we were told. The decor in our room was dated and the room smelled like mothballs and all of this for over €300 a night (no breakfast included). The staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel is close to the train station, but if you have large and heavy luggage, you will struggle carrying them over 2 bridges to get to the hotel. This hotel is a 25 to 30 min walk to San Marco Square (maze walk through narrow alleys full of people). We will never stay here again and would advise you not to. Next time, well stay near San Marco and hire a water taxi to take us with our luggage even if...
Read morePresents like a 4 star hotel from the outside, but really isn’t. Maybe 2.5 or 3 if being ultra generous.
First of all the NOISE. Starting at about 7 am, doors opening and closing and creaking and slamming. The doors are so thin I can hear the cleaning crew’s cell phone chime for text messages in the hall. Have you heard of “silent mode?” And just a teeny spritz of WD-40 in every door would solve the creaking issue — it sounded more like a Halloween haunted house than a hotel.
The room was sold to me as a “deluxe” and a very big deal was made that it had a jacuzzi tub. But the tub faucet didn’t work — it had to be filled with the shower head which took about an hour. I called the front desk to send someone, and the front desk man came himself saying he was alone and had no support or maintenance person for the entire hotel and didn’t know how to fix it (of course, this was after implying that I didn’t know how to use a faucet). He was apologetic, once he realized it was, indeed, the faucet and not me. Overall the people were very friendly, but the property had issues. The phone was off the hinges hanging from the wall.
The bed was hard and as a side sleeper, I got very poor rest tossing and turning all night to try to find a comfortable way to sleep on this bed that feels more like a large, stiff cot, not a bed in a supposedly 4-star hotel. Disappointing, especially at almost 700 euros for 2 nights.
The wifi kept dropping every 30 minutes and so I’d have to set it back to phone mode, which then I’d get busy and forget to check if the wifi was working again to switch back, so I used up a lot of my expensive data.
Edited to add: At checkout I said it was “fine” that’s it. I had already written this review so I did not feel the need to share everything I wrote here with the front desk person, but I most certainly was not “complimentary.” I was exhausted and annoyed, which you can probably tell from this review, after not sleeping well...

10/22/24 - We asked the front desk and were told there is no air conditioning in the entire hotel and it is 70+f/22+c out with 80+% humidity. The booking lists air conditioning but there is NO AIR CONDITIONING! Crazy that a hotel of this caliber doesn't have this basic amenity included as they stated in their listing. The solution was us asking for a fan and opening the windows. We noticed bugs in the room very shortly after that as there are no screens in the windows. Left a negative review that night.
10/23/24 - My wife and I woke up with a bunch of bug bites. Having to pick between your hotel room being cool or having bug bites isn't fun. Was confronted by the front desk about my negative review after dinner while walking back to the room. They explained to me they have an AC and a heat mode for the entire building but it's currently on heat mode. There is no ability for each room to decide what mode they want. They also told me they upgraded our room to a canal view for free (very nice gesture), which they didn't tell us and I wasn't aware of during check in or until then - felt like a guilt trip. They also told me they would have fixed the issue if I told them about it earlier. I literally asked them yesterday about controlling the climate and got a fan, what else could be done if all the rooms have this same issue? They were also trying to explain to me how HVAC works at my house and how I can't have 2 systems going at once when I definitely can (heat pumps, hwbb, wood stove). This conversation felt uncomfortable and awkward.
10/24/24 - My wife and I didn't want anymore bug bites so we slept with the windows closed and that room was hot and uncomfortable. At least we had an early morning train and the check out was painless.
The hotel looks very nice but the overall experience left a lot...
