Melaka Jonker House — Hotel in Malacca

In a word-DIRTY. "Looks" similar to internet pictures BUT very unhygienic. Bedsheets and pillowcases not changed. Dusty bedframes. Sticky floor (dirty mop at the back of the unit probably used to mop the floor). Fridge-not clean. You can smell the "Ghost of Tenants Past" as well as the smell of rats (heard them scurrying in the wall). The person in charge of check-in is very rude and has poor guest relation skills. We were stuck in a jam and informed her that we would not be able to make it for the 3 pm check-in time. She was impatient and said that we should have come early as the roads would close. On the website, they mention that you can inform them regarding your arrival time and that they will make the necessary arrangements. Not true. She then said that she'll be there between 6.30 pm-7 pm. We arrived around 5 pm and decided to have a drink before heading there. When we called her (at around 6.20 pm) she told us that she's on a break. We decided to walk around and got back there at 7 pm. We tried to call her a couple of times but couldn't get through which is when we called the owner. She arrived soon after and was again rude saying that we were late and asking if we had called her Boss (naturally, that's what we did when we couldn't reach her). The only thing good about the place is the location (but you'll have to bear the loud music everytime the trishaws go past). Not at all recommended unless you don't mind rolling around in FILTH. Wish we had seen the other review where the tenant mentioned that the place was dirty before booking this place....

Stated one night on June 2024, to be honest it will be a mixed review. The up side is about the location. Really strategic location. When you open the door wil be the road heading to Jonker and Riverside (within 5mins walk). The cleaner or caretaker is super friendly to us. Arrival and departure arrangements is fast and easy. Space of the entire house we stay is big enough with a hall, two bedroom and a backyard with kitchen and bathroom. AirCond is strong and cold.

The down side was cleaniness is poor. We found out that inside the fridge was some leftover food. Bathroom is abit dirty and smelly. Room wise, few hairs was found on the bed. The wood along the corridor can be seen is old and rotten and wet. And worst still, another family is renting the unit above us. The kids was jumping making the wooden floor sound non stop even at late night. We did voice out to the caretaker about it and the caretaker did apologise and will convey the message to the family above. Which is good to take our concern and very attentive. But too bad, the sound is still there. I don't blame the caretaker as its beyond her control.

Overall, if you want a place which is affortable and very easy access to everywhere.. this is the place. But if you are a person who put cleaniness in priority, this might not be the place. And ya, quite alot of mosquitoes and luckily they prepared a bottle of mosquito...

The place cute. It's not a luxurious place at all. It's far from that. But for a family traveling on a budget, it's decent, clean and a good place. What I like is that those who manage the place are very kind, helpful and very prompt. We had a problem with the air conditioning on the unit were originally using, but they were able to promptly transfer us to the next one without any hassle.
