There was black mold in the supposed 3 star hotel. We arrived late due to flight delays and though we saw the mold we were so exhausted we tried to endure it. Despite not sleeping for 48hours due to flight delays. I and my eldest daughter could not sleep, due to anxiety and promixity to mold. following a shower the humidity and dampness increased. The smell of the mold was intolerable. I spoke to the duty manager who tried to get us another room but the hotel was full. He tried to find us a nearby hotel but eventually we found one ourselves through booking.com. The duty manager promised a refund for one night. He cancelled our booking on booking.com but did not provide a refund as promised. No hotel should sell a room with black mold especially to a family with kids. This is a total disgrace. We were promised a refund but so far none has been received. Avoid this hotel at all cost. We have since stayed at another three hotels in Peru, where they have been clean and mold free. Monte Cristo of Cusco does not deserve a three star rating. Its pricing is step compared to its nearby competitors, the level of English is poor, and the standards fall far below basic health and safety standards and should avoided at all costs. The other issue was I really needed oxygen as the altitude was starting to get to me especially because I was starting to cough and I am asthmatic. I asked every morning about their oxygen to which they said they'll have it but never did eventuate. The oximeter never showed. The 3 nights I stayed with them I didn't get to receive oxygen at all. This is apparently a requirement for every hotel due to the...
Read moreI am a traveller who does not need fancy accommodations but look for a clean bed, hot shower, wifi and friendliness. This hotel had that with a great location! Joshep and Millie were very helpful at the reception desk and always willing to assist. Breakfast was nothing fancy but it had the basics (juice, coffee, eggs, bread and fruit) to start one’s day. The reception area echoes and sometimes gets noisy at night when guests decide to have their conversations in a public space. I had a great stay in Cusco and was happy with my choice of hotel - the...
