A very very unique restaurant with great vibes! The taste was great, portions were massive, and the ambience was very pleasant. Would totally recommend going if you’re looking for some Asian/Indian food, but maybe not if you’re in a rush. The ambient music and games/coloring books etc are best enjoyed with time.
I also want to defend against some other reviews, don’t let them dissuade you — removing shoes and sitting on a low table is a cultural thing and very common in Tibetan/North Indian places. Yes it’s weird that the staff doesn’t remove shoes, but it’s not more “unhygienic” than eating with your hands. If you don’t like the idea, maybe don’t go. If you’re dusty/sweaty after a hike, maybe skip this place (or generally any nice place). Also anecdotally, my food arrived in ~20 minutes, which is shockingly fast in Peru: I was alone in the restaurant so probably why, I could hear them chopping and cooking fresh food and I...

They literally took over an hour to bring us our food and didn’t even apologize for it. Rather, they were the ones who seemed annoyed/impatient at us the one time we asked them when we’d get our food — and we asked nicely, after waiting more than a whole hour. Needless to say, service was very unfriendly and cold.
To top it off, the food was definitely NOT worth the long wait. The tacu tacu was bland, and the fan cha choy was simply inedible - it was swimming in soy sauce soup, and the worst “Chinese” food I’ve ever had. I was super hungry, but still couldn’t even finish it because it just tasted so bad. Even my partner found it inedible.
On top of that, the toilet had no running water and no hand sanitizer. Makes you wonder what the hygiene of the kitchen is like…
All in all, simply a horrendous place — do yourself a favor and stay...
Read moreI do not remember this vegan restaurant being here when I visited Cusco three years ago. I will say that I am glad it is here now. A very small simply furnished restaurant where one removes their shoes at the door and sits on cushions on the floor to dine. The menu offers a nice variety of vegan dishes which are tastefully prepared. My only complaint though was how many items on the menu were not available. I do think though that this speaks to the popularity of the place and the taste of the food being served. Arriving later in the evening you may find the place closed for this very reason. Cusco has quite a few very good vegan restaurants to choose from and having tried them all, I think The Vegan Temple is the second best vegan restaurant i...
