My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Kimsa for several nights before and after doing the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. Sophia, Julio (on reception) and the other staff were fantastic. Very friendly and no request or query from us was any trouble for them, always done with a smile. The hotel is very clean, the breakfast spread is generous compared to other places we stayed at during our 3 weeks in South America and the hotel location is perfect, positioned on the edge of the cool and arty San Blas area of the city (which is s v safe and chilled area) whilst also being less than 5 minutes' walk from the main city square. If we are ever back in Cusco we will definitely book again! Thank you for all of your help Sophia, Julio and the rest of your team. Best wishes Eugene and Rachel (London)

Were received by Staff reception with a very welcome, also with very nice briefing about Machu Picchu town. The breakfast was very early at the morning, for we go to Machu Picchu, which was delicious. The room was very clean and warm!! Everything was perfect, we stay 5 nights, and always the staff make us feel like home. Everything was good ! Thank you HOTEL + COFFEE BAR MONTECRISTO for all! We will return some day!

Lovely hotel in a great location. Quiet and picturesque street. The center can be reached in seven minutes. The courtyard and the rooms are very beautifully decorated. But the most important is the staff of the hotel. Very sympathetic, responsive and good-natured people.

We didn’t know it’s all up hill to get to this hotel., and it’s located on a narrow street, some of the mini vans wouldn’t come here. We have to walk.||The problem is , when you have altitude sickness, you can’t walk fast or run, especially when it’s uphill. This hotel is pretty close to the top of the street. ||Our room is located on 3rd floor, I have to walk to one level and rest. My husband doesn’t have the problem. ||I would get a hotel closer to the square next time, so you can get drop off right in front of the hotel or you don’t have to walk too far, especially not uphill. ||Rooms are clean, bed is good, bathroom is very small and looks old. You have to catch the hot shower, make sure no other people are using it. The little heater in the room helps a lot, Cusco is cold all year round. Around 7C every night. ||I have problem with my wifi in my room, maybe because the room is in the far corner. ||Breakfast are kind of cold, good thing they have a microwave so that we can heat everything up. ||The staff in the first night that we arrived doesn’t speak much English. But we can communicate with the next staff next day. ||Overall, the hotel itself is good and quiet, it just the location. I would get a hotel closer to the square, especially when you have...

Black Mold in family room. Our family (2Adults 2 Kids) had booked for 2 nights at Hotel MonteCristo in Cusco, due to a delayed flight on LATAM from Lima, we didn't arrive until 7AM on the second day after a full night spent in Lima airport. We were completely exhausted and just crashed. We had noticed the mold, but my family desperately needed to sleep. Unfortunately, my elder daughter and myself were not able to sleep as we were closer to the black mould which was both inside and mostly outside the bathroom. breathing in the spores caused us stress and anxiety. Following a shower, the smell of mold and damp got much worse. It was much more pronounced when we left and returned to the room after a bit to eat. We did not spend a single night at the Hotel. On our return, when we realised the air was heavy with mold and damp, spending a night hear would be a risk to our respiratory health, we immediately checked into a nearby hotel (Auka last minute booked on booking.com too clean, amazing service, well maintained no mold). Here we bumped into a fellow guest from Chile who was booked into MonteCristo too and also found mold in his room and refused to stay the night. We requested a refund for 1 night but...

It is easy enough to be efficient at a hotel when there are no problems, but two days after we arrived, Peru went into lockdown. That was the real test of a helpful owner. We had two great days at the hotel. Quiet street but just two minutes walk from central square. Small food shops and chemist in the street of the hotel.||||Very pleasant hotel, good en-suite rooms, sun terrace on roof with great view of Andes mountains. Very secure neighbourhood. Spacious dining room with good buffet breakfast and other meals available.||||Ruben of Kimsa Travel has good contacts with all the tour operators and is very flexible in organising whatever tour you want, and at the time you require - all with personal service and at special prices. Definitely recommend both Kimsa Hotel and Travel||||After two days March 2020 Peru went into lockdown because of Covid. That was the real test of how helpful an owner is. We actually stayed for two more weeks, and Ruben made all the arrngements for us, allowed us to use the kitchen, gave us every facility and kept open while others were leaving and abandoning guests. This family will do everything for their guests and we are...
