I have mixed feelings about about this hotel, mostly good. My 3-night stay at Harman Cave has generally been good.
The Good:
The Staff - most of the staff I encountered were very friendly and welcoming. They’re very helpful and seems to take an interest in providing wonderful services to guests. From check in to check out I’ve experienced very professional and friendly services. The communications with the hotel prior to my arrival have been very responsive and they were able to have a car ready to pick us up at the airport for 55 euro. And even though we arrived at 10:30am, the receptionist gave us our room because it was ready
The Room - we booked the fairy chimney room and it was amazing! It was totally inside a cave and the experience is truly worthy of the extra price. It has a balcony that overlooks the valley where balloons take off so it’s a great view. However, the balcony is quite small and someone about 5’10” can barely stand without hitting head. Otherwise, the room is great! AC works great and it was needed even though it was in the low 40s at night because the cave keeps the temperature warm at night
The Location- the location is absolutely perfect for exploring Cappadocia. It’s situated very close to the balloon launching sites and is well within walking distance to the Open Air museums, the 3 major canyons (Red, Rose, and Love). Easily accessible to hike those canyons
Needs Improvement:
The two things that need improvement are the quality of the bed/pillow and breakfast.
Breakfast is buffet style and is the same things daily. It contains lots of cheese options, some dried-up sausages, fries, boiled eggs, and flat bread with cheese. They offer to cook “omelette” but it’s really just very oily scrambled eggs, which we didn’t want after the first day. The breakfast definitely fell short of expectations but I guess that is why they are cheaper than others around them
The bed is just a plain hard mattress. And the pillow is a very low quality pillow so I wasn’t Cale to sleep for more than 3 hours per night, tossing and turning all night long. I guess if you’re used to firm low-quality mattress, you probably won’t mind it but having slept on pillow top mattress for many years, sleeping in this bed was just not an option
Because I couldn’t have a good night sleep and the mediocre breakfast, I deducted one star. Would I stay here again? If they have a more comfortable mattress and better breakfast options, I would, even if I have to pay more. But other than these issues, this hotel is great.
Lastly, don’t even ask for late check out as their sign at the check in...
Read moreI booked the fairy chimney room (room 304) and it is the second best room I've ever stayed in around the world (to give you a comparison, the best one was an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora).
As soon as I walked in the door of my room, I was speechless at how unique the room is, it's not your usual hotel room that's for sure. It's a very authentic room carved out from a fairy chimney, which you can find everywhere around Cappadocia. There are pigeon holes in the walls, and even an underground storage space to keep the authenticity of the room. The design of the room was very well thought out - the wardrobe cupboard has been built into the wall, there is a little seating area where you can view out the window into the Göreme landscape of more fairy chimneys (from your very own fairy chimney :)) - this was my safe haven. The lighting in the room was placed appropriately to show off the features of the room. You also have your own private balcony (with more views of the landscape). The bathrooms were also nicely decorated with a nice shower head and even Cappadocia-printed slippers. The room was also very tidy and clean. I visited in November which happened to be unusually colder than it's meant to be; when I arrived it was warm and cosy which added to the entire first impression of the room!
The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. I made a very last minute booking for an airport pick-up (on the day I'm meant to arrive) but Avni dealt with it very promptly which was a huge relief. Breakfast at the hotel was also very enjoyable - make sure you ask for the Turkish pancakes (gozleme) as it's very yummy. I enjoyed sitting outside on one of the porches (when it's not too cold) and taking in the breathtaking views whilst having my breakfast. Harman Cave Hotel also has a rooftop seating area which gives you a 360-degree panoramic view of the area.
The hotel staff will also help you with the booking of your tours and at a reasonable price. The location of the hotel was only a 3-minute downhill walk into the centre of the town which was convenient, although during the snowy weather, make sure you pack appropriate shoes as the roads can be very slippery (especially downhill).
Many thanks to everyone at the hotel for a very unforgettable stay. I hope to come back again in the...
Read moreHad a horrible experience at Harman Cave hotel, the staff is rude, disrespectful and the manager Mehmet is extremely misbehaved. We had an early morning flight from cappadocia so we requested the staff to pack some food for us but the staff was not helpful at all. The manager Mehmet was very indecent towards my mother, argued with us and used abusive language. After all this they gave us three pieces of un-toasted bread in a plastic bag. It was a disgusting experience, not worth a penny we spent on the hotel. Moreover, they do not even decorated the terrace as shown in the picture even though it was not raining and the weather was good. The rooms have no view are very dimly lit and do not even provide dental kits. Do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
reply to the owner: Please do not make up lies to save face on the internet , we paid for 2 rooms and stayed in those two rooms, I am more than happy to attach the payment proof. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and are very well versed with what hotel policies are. Your reply itself shows how rude and misbehaved you are so thank you for proving my point. Now as well as being indecent with my mother while we were at your hotel, you have tried to berate me on the internet. This is truly a disgusting feeling, So please be assured that stepping foot in your hotel is something i never want to do again. Hope you spend the "little money" we wasted at your hotel in some hospitality classes and to anyone reading this, please choose this hotel only if you want to meet their misbehaved manager who does not know how to treat women...
