First, I want to say the staff here is amazing! That being said, the hotel did have some things that I wanted to highlight for those staying. I’ll start with the cons first.
This hotel is a little dated, or maybe it’s not necessarily dated but has obvious wear and tear. We even noticed this in the lobby area as the furniture was quite worn out. I’ll also add the couches were quite low and we aren’t old haha! The room was adequate considering we needed it just for a resting point. We opted for the two queen bed option which included breakfast.
There was noticeable wear and tear throughout the room, like the bathroom door, chips in the wood furniture, and the beds creaked. There was also a damp feeling in the room, which bothered me and triggered my toddler's allergies while we were staying. It could be because this is a pet-friendly hotel, and we have allergies to pets.
The beds were pretty uncomfortable for us. We all are side sleepers, and they’re just too firm. I tried to use the pillows to help, but they’re quite squishy and don’t hold their shape. I think if you sleep on your back or stomach, though, you’d be just fine. Additionally, the cleaning product they use is very strong. If you have migraines and are triggered by smells like me, it may bother you.
The pros definitely outweighed the cons. We enjoyed being greeted by friendly staff every single time. We loved that our room, 407, faced the aquarium, as our toddler was super excited to see it every morning. The room we stayed in also had a microwave and fridge, which is perfect for storing leftovers or feeding toddlers with bottomless stomachs.
There were many food spots close by to explore. We enjoyed that our AC got super cold as it was hot while we were visiting and the shower was always hot! It was also nice because breakfast is on this floor, and it made mornings easier. The breakfast waitstaff was amazing, and we enjoyed the different food options. I’m usually a coffee snob, and their coffee was pretty good! Do note though that if you are snobbier than I am about your coffee there is a Starbucks close by in the Embassy hotel. We had breakfast vouchers included in our stay price, and they always went above and beyond to take care of us. Do note that they work for tips, so don’t be that person and not tip; just charge it to your room.
We loved how close this hotel was to the places we wanted to visit. Even if you don’t want to stay nearby, they have scooters you can rent through Uber basically everywhere. We mostly walked and kept our car in the parking garage while we stayed. One of my favorite features was their digital key. It worked in the parking garage and for your room, making coming and going so easy! If we come back, I don’t know if I would stay again due to the beds just not being ideal for us, but everything...
Read moreCheck-in: Sandy tried to help after being told to by another worker at the desk, KJ. The manager on duty refused to help. That means I was bypassed and had to wait for another person to be helped.
They blamed it on the CrowdStrike issue. Understood but don’t brush me to the side until you know my reservation is taken care of. It took additional time to get checked in between the two desk folks.
I blame this on them being flustered from my RBF and the manager not helping them. The manager comes out when they hand me the room keys. Still not helping with customers or acknowledging any of us.
Room condition: Now the rooms, dated, the headboards look like all the head and hand germs are still there. What is happening? They put us on the top floor 13 away from the noise like I requested but it’s disappointing. The bed spread looks washed but still had stains. I sat down on the bed and the springs squeaked under my average sized body smh.
Now this bathroom. Jesus take the wheel…there was some kind of white gunk on the door, the tub has a mat covering something I’m scared to uncover and has so many badly spackled cracks. There’s literally a string hanging from the faucet. There was hair on the bathroom floor also. I get I’m not at a 5 star hotel but this looks like an old home that needs some lots love.
Location: Ok look the location is in walking distance to the aquarium, State Farm arena, and Mercedes Benz stadium. We were able to walk to see Janet Jackson on Sunday. 20 mins from the airport so if you just need a place to lay down that’s fine. There were a few events here this weekend so they overcharged at $344 a night. Not worth it.
Almost the end until… My 19 year old daughter gets stuck in the elevator going to grab our Uber Eats from downstairs. The fire department had to get her and the other ppl out. Front desk called me and didn’t seem the least concerned. She said, “I have your daughter, I think, that’s stuck in the elevator. The fire department is on the way to get them out.” I had to ask if she was ok. She said yeah like it was a funny question. Yep, if over it was a person that would be x 2. We won’t stay here again or...
Read moreWe did not enjoy our stay here and would not stay again if we are in Atlanta. When we arrived to check in, there was a woman with two children at the front desk who had just been broken into (we aren’t sure if it was her car or her room), so everything started off with us feeling a little on edge. Things didn’t get better, unfortunately.
Pros: I will say that our room was clean and we loved that the laundry takes credit card in addition to coins ($2.75 wash and $2.50 dry, 28 minute wash and 45 minute dry). Also a good location to walk to many attractions. There was a very friendly man cleaning and refilling the pool in morning. There is a big gym with lots of equipment.
Cons: The check in and check out staff seemed indifferent and uninterested. I was not welcomed as a gold member or offered any water or snacks and I had to remind her about breakfast vs points choice. Compared to the size of the room and to all the other hotels we stayed in, the tv was very small. But we wouldn’t have minded that at all - the problem was that the sound that didn’t work. The furniture in the room was worn and the toilet rocked a bit. The closet door was broken and couldn’t be moved. The pools were super chaotic and busy. But - it was the 4th of July, so we understand lots of people wanting to gather, however, the pool area was a mess with cigarettes and dirty towels, so we didn’t swim until the morning when we were the only ones there and it was being cleaned. The pool hours are posted until 11, but it’s closing at 10 right now. There are many signs saying no smoking or parties or loud music, but those are being ignored. The gym was full of soaking wet kids playing on the equipment. The floors near the laundry area were muddy and had trash. The elevators in the hotel smell like cigarettes and marijuana. The elevators in the parking garage smell like urine and cigarettes. It is $36 for self parking and $43 for valet. We had difficulties exiting the garage because the key card didn’t work. We needed to show proof on a paper receipt from the hotel that we paid, so we were very lucky I had...
