I have stayed at Frenchy's Oasis probably 8 times in the last 5 years; and we typically stay for 7 days at a time. We travel with our boat from nearby Orlando to do fishing and family vacation. At first it was amazing, super friendly management, ultra clean rooms, and we used the boat dock and everything was safe and sound with our vessel.
This past time, everything went down hill...which is really sad. First off, keep in mind we typically have 3 other families who join us and rent rooms also. Midway during the stay, 2 other families not with us were complaining at the pool that their toilets were not working so well. Then our friend's toilet went in the middle of the night! The management never came to help but instead 6 hours later the next morning they yelled at them and told them to DOUBLE FLUSH. seriously? do you think we are stupid?
Then our other friends locked themselves out of their room in the evening. They called the emergency number and basically got bitched at by management.
During our stay, for 1 week, were were never given toilet paper so we had to go buy it. We got RUDELY yelled at the pool for a champagne bottle and for playing our music (mind you 20 guests were at the pool enjoying it who were all sick of hearing Jimmy Buffet played by the hotel). We could have been NICELY asked to remove the bottle and turn off our tunes...not treated like children.
Lastly the boat dock was a pain in the butt. They installed a security gate which is great, but it locks you out. If you call the emergency number no one answers it so we had to jump the fence several times.
Personally I think the management team needs a vacation and need to remember that without guests, they would not have any business.
It saddens me to write this review but things have changed alot at the hotel. Its not a cheap stay either so when I spend $1500 I expect a little bit of friendly service.
On a side note, LOVE LOVE LOVE Frenchy's restaurants...its the only place we eat when in Clearwater! Everynight we eat at a...
Read moreSecond stay at Frenchy's Oasis and not as happy this stay. From our first stay and reading online I was under the impression that all rooms had the kitchenettes. So we had brought food to prepare. Our room was nice but only had a tiny fridge in closet, no microwave and no cooktop stove. Terrazzo floors are beautiful but walking around the room our socks were black from dirty floors and we took our shoes off upon entering the room. AC is a wall unit in main room and does not cool off bathroom, so prepare to bring a small fan for in there. Bed and pillows were just ok. Location is still prime and enjoyed all Clearwater Beach has to offer.
Great location, short walk to beautiful Clearwater beach along with many great restaurants. Frenchy's (try the she crab soup) is one great option for food along with Clear Sky Cafe and Crabby Bill's. Walgreens is literally steps from the Motel and this was perfect to pick up beer and food to prepare in the room. Having a Full size fridge, cooktop and microwave was convenient for heating up leftovers or preparing meals in the room to save beach food prices. The private dock was perfect for fishing and dolphin watching. The dock even offers a fish cleaning station with running water. Pool area is nice and plenty of chairs for relaxing. The whole Motel has been renovated and is beautifully decorated and maintained. Room was spacious and clean. Parking is limited but since our visit was during off season we had no trouble with...
Read moreFrenchy's is a great little getaway place. The rates are pretty reasonable, there is plenty of stuff to do within walking distance, and the place has a cool retro vibe to it. They have a really nice pier on the bay side with a fish cleaning station and lights at night. Most of the places have a little balcony and some chairs to sit on. The pool isn't heated, but that shouldn't be a problem for most of the year. Right off of the pool, there is a little rec room with a nice collection of movies and books. It's got AC, so you could sit and watch your kids play in the pool while you stay out of the sun and read. There is also an older computer in there that would be fine for sending emails and browsing web pages should you need to do so.
The room we stayed in, room 14, had a little kitchenette with a refrigerator, a sink, a drip coffee maker, 2 stove top coils, and a microwave. The kitchen is really nice if you want to save some money instead of going out to eat all the time. Pro tip, get groceries before coming onto the island. A grocery store besides the Walgreens is hard to come by. Free wifi is nice, but the wifi in 14 is kinda unreliable because the router sits in unit 16.
The beach is only a 5 minute walk away, and there is a great boardwalk in town. Lots of performers and street magicians show up in the park by the pier/boardwalk during the busy season. Tons of ice cream places, decent fish sandwiches, and corny gift shops make it a cool place to...
