Having traditionally preferred accommodations of a JW Marriott property, I found my inaugural experience at The Brafferton Inn to be exceptionally satisfying. The Inn's prime location in the heart of downtown Gettysburg and Lincoln Square affords convenient access to numerous shops, restaurants, tours, and historical sites. Ample parking is provided. Furthermore, nearby attractions include the Gettysburg Outlet Mall, the Gettysburg National Battlefield, President Eisenhower's Farm, and various commercial establishments. The proprietors are exceedingly hospitable, ensuring a warm reception and providing a comprehensive check-in process. A detailed orientation, encompassing parking, breakfast arrangements, and the Inn's history, is followed by a guided tour of the premises and guest rooms. The Brafferton Inn possesses a rich heritage as the oldest deeded Inn in Gettysburg, originally owned by the town butcher and once utilized as a church where Confederates sat on one side and Union troops on the opposite. The Inn also offers a nice outdoor garden sitting area, and our room had a balcony as well. Our room was tastefully furnished with modern amenities while maintaining a period-appropriate aesthetic. The culinary offerings, particularly the baked goods, are noteworthy. Afternoon tea, accompanied by freshly baked cookies, and a three-course breakfast, featuring exceptional homemade pastries, are provided. The Innkeeper’s proficiency in baking is evident in the superior quality of the pastries, notably the cherry cheese Danish. Admittingly even the variety of pastries I would not try or think I would like, were outstanding. The exquisitely prepared home-fried potatoes were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Perhaps the best home fried potato I have ever eaten. Additionally, the pancakes and egg dishes are of a high standard. The bed and breakfast aspects are commendable, and the supplementary offerings such as afternoon tea, parking, and the central location enhance the overall experience. The room was clean, staff very pleasant, and the bed was comfortable. For those with an interest in history or a desire for a refined visit to Gettysburg, The Brafferton Inn is highly recommended. I intend to return to the Brafferton Inn my next visit to Gettysburg. Stayed the Weekend of...
Read moreMy daughter and I chose the Brafferton Inn for our weekend getaway, and it was perfect! From the moment you walk through the front door you feel like you have stepped back in time. The Inn is warm and inviting. The owners Brian and AmyBeth are so kind and thoughtful. You can tell that they love what they do and work hard to make your stay memorable. They have thought of everything! Even down to the tiny meringue cookies that were waiting in the entry way as you walked in!
We stayed in the Brafferton Suite. AmeBeth showed us to our room and gave us a little history about the building and room. So much history, both exciting and interesting. Our room was beautiful! It faced the street, in a separate building up one flight of stairs. It was private, comfortable and charming. A King size bed in the main room and a pull-out sofa bed in a small sitting room area separated by doors for privacy worked well for our needs. A beautifully decorated fireplace could be enjoyed from the bedroom as well as the sitting area. The bathroom had a large jacuzzi tub and in a separate area a shower, toilet and vanity. It also had a small back porch sitting area that is shared with the room next door. A small fridge, microwave and Keurig were added bonuses to the room as well.
Breakfast was amazing! Again, the details were endless from the table settings to the dining area itself! We were able to reserve a breakfast time that worked for our schedule and had the choice of dining in or dining out on the back porch in the garden area. We enjoyed a cup of coffee sitting in the garden area talking and taking in the quiet of the morning surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants to start our day. Breakfast was made with all wonderful and fresh ingredients! From the flaky cheese danish with raspberry jam and fresh fruit to the Charleston breakfast casserole and french toast, it was all DELICIOUS!
Although you are right in the heart of town when you walk through the door at the Brafferton Inn you feel an instant quiet and calm. We will plan our stay again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Gettysburg.
Getting away to unwind and recharge was exactly what we needed! Thank you, Brain and AmyBeth for the...

The hosts were phonemonal. Always busy but never without a smile. Easy booking, amazing breakfast, parking right out front to check in, process to check out was a breeze.
Food - yes, this B&B includes a breakfast (some don't), but it's so good I would go back just for it! (I usually pass on breakfast food.) Sausage (local) melts in your mouth while the homemade pastries are delectable. Entrees were hard to choose from - savory and sweet - but never hungry at lunchtime!
Bedrooms - We were in one suite (William's Place), so I can't comment on the others, but gosh, the pics do NOT do it justice. Our place could have easily been 3 different rooms. Huge. Clean. Comfortable. Modern with a fun rustic chic. You melted into the mattress and sitting areas comfy, too. Outlets everywhere. Definitely had tons of personality and decor was spot on. Closests big enough for all the hoop skirts, trunks, and the hat boxes a woman could bring. Main house has tons of fun features, rooms, nooks and crannies to explore. The garden area was so peaceful and sweet. The only downside was wifi was a bit spotty in our suite - so bring your Hotspot if this matters to you (it didn’t to us).
Location - in the heart of downtown - the "cool" part. Seems there was a touristy part of town too (lots of t-shirts shops, tour guide store fronts, etc) but we were surrounded by gift/memoriibilia shops, local restaurants, ice cream parlors, and on the same block as Lincoln square.
If you have mobility issues, be aware - throughout the property, there are several uneven paths, narrow walkways, and a few starircases (with railings). Our suite had close parking, but some had to park a bit further (across the main road). No doubt any issues could be worked out...
