Two main issues. The first is a big deal if your are disabled. The other may very well be blamed on the current state of finding good labor. The room might be ADA compliant on paper, but I assume the law says nothing about the height of the bed. Yes, they had a roll in shower, light up doorbell, lower peep hole etc. What a shock it was to find a bed that was no joke, almost 4 feet off the floor! How is a person who has mobility issues going to get in it? My wife ended up sleeping on the very uncomfortable couch. They had no problem charging the going rate for the room even thought they are clearly understaffed, and unprepared to receive guests. We booked an accessible room and then called to make sure they had the roll in shower, they confirmed. However, when we checked in, they sent us to a regular room. Not usually a big deal, but they didn't have a room ready and they wanted us to bring all of our stuff back down to the lobby and wait. Isn't that the reason why checkout is early in the day and check in is later? Oh, Just in case you assumed they have a fridge in every room like other hotels, they don't. its an extra $15.00 a night for a fridge (in certain rooms). These are the kinds of details that a pricey ($340/night) hotel should get right. So on our last night we weren't feeling up to going out so we ordered delivery. I completely forgot to give our room number ( I'll own that), and when I realized this mistake I immediately went downstairs to wait. it was about 15 minutes after we ordered. By the way, the line to check in was ridiculous. I Waited for about 30 - 40 minutes assuming they were just running behind on deliveries. There's no way they delivered that fast, right? I called the food joint and they said the hotel told the driver they were too busy to call our room. When I went to the front desk they made me wait before getting my ice cold dinner from the back. Again stating the food arrived 40 minutes prior and they were too busy to call the room. That was it for me. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. first of all, how hard can it be to look up a guest in the computer and call them? secondly, you have no business checking in new guests when you can't serve the ones you already checked in. This is a nice hotel in a great location, but the level of service does not match the price point or the front they...

Recognizing during past 4 years of traveling to the annual Allen Hopkins Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge that my route passes near Gettysburg I added a couple extra days to my spring 2019 trip to see Gettysburg on March 31 and April 1.
I stayed at the Gettysburg Hotel getting accommodations without reservation, made possible, I am sure, because of my off season visit. No crowd competition. Gettysburg being a major tourist destination my visit was optimized being there before tourist season crowds.
I am a low impact guest. My main interest in staying at GH was the historic status of the building and its location on the square near the battlefield. The only hotel service I needed was checking in and there was not much to that because parked in front of the hotel using secret hotel app securing accommodation all I needed was my room key card when I went inside.
My room was funky but clean. Shower was dated but functional. Plenty of hot water and water went down the drain. I dined for dinner seated at the hotel bar. Ordering a cocktail the bartender told me there was no food service in the bar. But I was her only customer, no one else in the bar and restaurant steps away she was kind and flexible helping serve me where I was seated. I enjoyed fillet and crab cake with grilled asparagus along with a pinot noir. Coffee and chocolate cake for dessert. Dinner was respectable. Not the quality of Creed’ Seafood and Steaks in King of Prussia where I had dinner a couple nights earlier but better than an Outback.
I enjoyed breakfast the next morning in the hotel restaurant that was also respectable, server was perfect from taking my order to settling my tab and delightful. Union Cigar Club kitty corner from the hotel restaurant was closed by the time I finished dinner the evening before. After breakfast I walked through the square and had the pleasure of UCC hospitality enjoying a cigar before going down the street for the battlefield tour. In short the GH was perfect for my accommodation needs. Location was perfectly convenient for my activities. I enjoyed my short stay and will come back...
Read moreThis was the worst experience. I stayed here at the VIP suite with my husband for our anniversary. I talked up this town so much to him for years and we finally come here only to be treated absolutely horribly! We were looking for restaurants to eat at and thought it would be a good idea to eat at One Lincoln Wine and Spirits as the menu looked good. We were waiting behind a couple that said they were already taken care of, and that the guy that helped them was just making sure their table was ready. He seats them and comes back, not acknowledging us, which I understood he was busy so we just waited patiently for him to look up at us. When he finally does, he looks right at my husband and says “can I help you” with the biggest attitude. Still I’m thinking whatever I just want to sit down to eat- but the guy said straight up- No he’s not seating us because the restaurant is full as there was a bus tour that came in… there were PLENTY of open seats and it was only HALF FULL. The man literally said no we can’t eat there and then waved his hands in a motion to make us leave. It really was not a good look that the restaurant was completely white and he would not let a black woman in? And the way he said no to us with no question was so disgusting and absolutely disrespectful. Not really something I expected in a “prestigious” place like this, not to mention my husband is a veteran. Felt something like the 1950s and that sucks because we had high hopes.
There are other businesses in this town, with really nice people that don’t treat people badly from one look, so black people- skip staying here,...
