Awful awful awful..... Had high hopes 😭 My husband and I walked in, it was busy but now overwhelmingly so. We went to the bar to have a drink. Bartender took a good 5 mins to acknowledge us. Once she finally did, she throw menus at us and walked away . She yelled at the host that she is too busy. Very unprofessional for her to do this in front of the customers. I had a mixed drink that was supposed to be "smoked". The Smoked Old Fashion had ZERO smoked flavor. No biggie, I drank it. It was just ok. My husband had a beer. We finally sat down to have dinner. We waited again to be greeted and order. When the waitress arrived we ordered everything at once. Looking around at the other tables, they too have been waiting for their orders. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and the waitress said " oh, the host should have told you, we are out of that". I decided to just order sides. My husband ordered wings/ brisket/ collared greens. Now we wait....and wait ... And wait. The waitress came back, "sorry no Mac and cheese". UGGGG. I ordered baked beans. When the food finally came IT WAS DISGUSTING. Brisket was not smoked (common theme here, weird). It was all fat. We brought it home for our dog! The tasteless wings were slimmy and chewy. My coleslaw was just a pile of carrots and cabbage- Little to no sauce. The baked beans tasted as if they were out of a can, nothing special. The corn bread was so dry it crumbled when my fork touched it. The butter on top just stayed there because everything was cold. The butter was a sweet butter, that was very odd. This place needs help. The actual restaurant was appealing, But I would never go back! My husband and I go out to dinner at least three times a week, so we know what barbecue tastes like and this is not a barbecue joint!

Any person genuinely interested in good BBQ will be disappointed.
I'll start off by saying that the waitress/service we had was very nice and professional. The staff was friendly and helpful.
But the food...clearly the people who rate the food at 5 stars have never had BBQ, let alone good BBQ and I feel bad for their taste buds. The food was as close to moribund as it could be and needs some revitalization. The brisket seemed like it was cooked just to meet expectations and that is bare minimum.
I'm a big fan of hushpuppies and was utterly disappointed when the appetizer arrived at my table. The general taste was OK but I could tell it was fried in old oil.
If you're a fan of sauces and variety, this will not be the place for you. I wish I could express the disappointment in this aspect of a dining experience, especially for a BBQ place. If you're going to open up a BBQ restaurant, it would be benevolent to actually have sauces at the table that are house made for your patrons. My table didn't even have ketchup, napkins, or salt and pepper.
The menu could be vastly improved- I understand the high price of a sandwich, but you do not get a side with said sandwich (included in the price and most other BBQ restaurant provide). A $15 brisket will get you that brisket, and you will be nickel and dime'd for sides that don't truly support the meal.
From my understanding, the owner also own's Lulu's (ice cream next door) and Upper Crust (pizza place next door). Please make a pivotal business decision and focus on one thing. Jack of all trades, master of none. You are in a prime location, vacation destination and your BBQ is mediocre. Step it up and actually show visitors that northerners can showcase...
Read moreI don’t normally do reviews based off of one visit. While technically this was my second visit because I’ve eaten at The Upper Crust (their attached sister restaurant) I have never actually eaten at Borough BBQ until this trip. I feel like I must review this place in order to stop anyone else from going who might think they are getting good bbq.
This is NOT brisket. It’s basically thin slices of roast beef. No smoke, not moist, no texture. I hope you like pepper because that’s the only seasoning on the outside. I’m not trying to hate on them for the sake of hating. The thing is, it’s just really bad brisket. It’s hospital brisket or the kind you might get at a cheap diner. In no world is it $18 brisket. I honestly found myself thinking that Arby’s has better brisket than this.
If dry roast beef covered in pepper is your thing, you will love this. If you want actual brisket, good, tender, smokey, moist brisket, go somewhere else. Save yourself the disappointment and some money.
My wife got the pulled pork and said all she could taste was pepper. We got a side of fries and they were the best part but their “secret seasoning” had no taste and I question that they were actually hand cut there. Only 1 ketchup cup, only 2 bbq cups, no salt at the tables (I didn’t need pepper!), no straws given out. Kind of stingy for how much everything cost ($43 for brisket, coke, fries and pork sandwich).
Atmosphere is kind of sad. Just lacking life really, no soul. Service wasn’t great at all but I’m giving grace because our server said it was her first day.
The only redeeming part of our experience was that we needed something to help us feel better and went to Mr. G’s for ice cream after this...
