I came here on 2 seperate occasions and I have a mixed rating for it.
I would say the food is excellent. Very very good stuff.... but the wait time is atrocious.
I had an aloha smash burger, a loco Dog, and a chicken sandwich on the 2 trips. The food was fresh, great tasting and the fries were outta this world tasty.
Now onto the issues. I work in the food industry and have ran pretty much every cuisine under the sun. I have done so for 15 years and I think the wait times are ridiculous. Both times I went there I literally had to wait 50 minutes one night and an hour and 10 minutes the next night for food.
I would have just gotten a refund and went somewhere else if other places were open because while the food is absolutely top notch, the wait times make it not worth it and there wasnt many people ahead of us either of those times. 7 customers first night, 9 customers the longer night.
I understand they are working out of a small area with limited resources but it seems as though they have outgrown their space. 50-70 minutes for a burger, fries, and hot dogs is ridiculous any way you slice it.
Those guys are working hard and they're ingredients are fresh but from one chef to the next, you need to expand to a new area to allow yourself to grow. Working off of a small flat top and a table top plug in deep fryer will not being able to keep up with the demand and im hoping for the sake of your restaurant, it doesn't tarnish your reputation because as I said above..The food is phenomenal and these guys can cook up a mean dinner.
Only issue is they are holding themselves back from moving to the next level with the small space and crazy wait times.
When you can only do one ticket at a time because of limited space, the current work model isnt going to work out long term. I dont mind a wait for good food but I have to admit, this was the longest wait time Ive ever experienced for food in any setting.
I hope you guys live long and prosper because you know how to cook some great food. Take the risk and jump into a bigger space, I have faith you will be successful.
Only hesitation I have in returning again in the future is placing an order at 9pm but not being able to eat until after 10pm even if the food...
Read moreFrustrating experience overall and was refused service on a bizarre food allergy premise.
Story: I read the allergy disclaimer signs and answered “peanuts” when asked by the cashier about food allergies only to be surprised that no one on the team could identify what part of the aloha smash burger would have peanuts.
After talking it over with my wife (the one with the peanut allergy), she agreed that she’d skip eating so I could eat — only to be refused service by the staff and told we needed to have her SIGN A WAIVER, which is probably one of the most ridiculous requests we’ve had for a dining experience (literally have never experienced this ever).
EOD I can understand exercising caution around food allergies, but training their staff ask about allergies only to not know what ingredients are in the food is unacceptable and frustrating. There are plenty of other restaurants / stands in the Waikiki area that can accommodate food allergies. Strange practice to flat out refuse customers because they’re not confident in knowing their ingredients and how they’re handling food.
We were really looking forward to trying this place all week but can’t in good faith recommend it to anyone — especially if you have allergies.
(If you search through the reviews for “allergy”, we’re not the only people to encounter...
Read moreAloha Smash Burger Waikiki might be small in size, but it delivers a big punch in flavor, especially with its signature Aloha Smash Burger. Tucked away in the vibrant streets of Waikiki, this place proves that great food doesn’t need a sprawling dining space to make an impact. Every bite of their Aloha Smash Burger is an experience in itself. The burger is grilled to perfection, with a wonderful sear on the outside that locks in all the juicy flavors.
The star of the show is definitely the beef patty, which is cooked to have a nice crust while staying tender and moist on the inside. You can tell they use quality ingredients, as each layer of the burger—from the melted cheese to the fresh veggies and the soft, pillowy bun, complements the other beautifully. There's a subtle sweetness in the sauce that pairs perfectly with the savory beef, creating a well-balanced taste that makes you want to keep biting into it. The flavors feel thoughtfully put together, giving the burger a unique Hawaiian twist.
For burger enthusiasts, Aloha Smash Burger Waikiki should be on your must-try list. It’s impressive how they pack so much flavor and quality into such a small space. This little spot has all the aloha spirit and taste you’d expect from a truly memorable Hawaiian...
