I recently vacationed during the summer here in Hawaii and on the second part of my trip popped in here and stayed in a nearby hotel within walking distance right there on Wakiki Beach. 🏖️
On my last night in town, I just happened to randomly walk in here on my last night in the island after reading some nice reviews and boy am I so glad that I did.
The restaurant was pretty busy that evening, but it didn't affect the cool, chill and laid back vibe with a very friendly greeting and pretty island music in the background that was playing live in the back near the pool.
Since they were busy the manager helped out almost the whole time and kept checking up on me to make sure that I was okay. I had the oysters with a beautiful glass of soft Sauvignon Blanc wine for starters and a colorful kale salad.
The specialty fish of the day was prepared in a deliciously creamy sauce and seasoned perfectly, the Hawaiian mash sweet potatoes with the grilled asparagus, orange fish eggs was out of this world And the presentation with the bright pink flower plumeria brought a smile to me face. 🌺 (which I kind of needed that night after a stressful day of flying, traveling and hopping islands)
Overall my experience was really quite wonderful here, with detail oriented service that was Not at all like experience in other places on the big island or in some other parts of Oahu where the service was seriously lacking or non-existent.
I had incredible service and amazing food here all across the board.
Both the service and especially the food were on point that particular night and finely executed.
If I am ever traveling back to Oahu and staying on or near Wakiki Beach again, I will definitely re-visit for a unique dining experience here just for the food alone, but the service was what made it even better.
I very Highly...

We enjoyed our stay at SurfJack, we were there for over a week and felt taken care of by Virginia and the kind people at guest services, specially Hoku. The only sour note was our bad experience from Mahina and sons. On our last day at Waikiki, we decided to have pizza at the restaurant. We sat down at a table that didn’t have a reserve sign. Ordered and paid for the pizza at the bar and made sure I pointed out to the bartender where we were sitting. He had no issue with that. The kids were hungry while waiting, so I gave them fruits we bought outside. A different server brought our pizza and said we can’t sit where we were at and proceeded to make us sit somewhere else. The server said that the table is reserved for guests with reservation. I told them there wasn’t a sign at all as compared to other tables that clearly had the reserve sign. The kids had already settled in, the napkins been used..He firmly said “No, since you ordered the pizza at the bar, you’re eating food from outside, you can’t sit here, I can give you a picnic table in the restaurant.” We begrudgingly left the table and sat at the uncomfortable picnic table. When I was feeding my young kids pizza, I had time to reflect and I felt like we had the right to stay on our previous table. And also, I didn’t like the tone of the server when he told us to move, I felt like we were really kicked out of my table and not asked politely to move since it wasn’t our fault that someone missed to put out the reserve sign on the table. We wanted to order more food as the kids were so hungry but the way we were treated and the table we were sitting at, it wasn’t worth paying the price of the meal. We should have eaten somewhere where we would have had a better experience. We ended up getting a “second” dinner...

From the moment we walked in for our reservation, our waiter Landon was in a rush to get us in and out even though the place was barely even 30% at capacity. It all went downhill from there.
Rude attitude, rush service, most importantly the least flavorful dishes we've ever tasted and we travel alot to different places and restaurants. Menu sounded delicious, but all food was extremely underwhelming. All the dishes we ordered had absolutely no flavor at all. Had to ask for salt and lemon for the 3 dishes we did order before finally calling it quits before our main dinner was even out. Bland, flavorless, and terrible attitude by "Manager" Landon. The "executive Chef" might need to go back to culinary school because if he's not tasting his own food he prepares and adjusts accordingly, then either his taste buds are shot or he just doesn't care. Food also seemed prw-prepared or made in bulk as it came out pretty quickly
The only positive thing I can say about this place is it has a nice vibe. A vibe which you can easily find anywhere else close by with much better tasting food if you actually enjoy your food not tasting like cardboard.
Would highly avoid this place. So many better options for anyone visiting. Paid for the appetizers and drinks we ordered and asked for the check and left. If there's an executive chef working here, he's either incapacitated or blind to his own...
