TLDR: Do not come here if you are a minority. (Not allowed to talk at bar) Bartender(John B) is racist and actively shows he does not want you here. (Wouldn’t even stand behind the bar…see photos) There are other reviews describing similar incidents.

Used to come here when I lived here before and it was fine and that was why I came here again because of those good times. As you can see from the picture the bar is completely empty. Only one other couple in the entire bar. This is a sports bar. I’m came here to watch my team and I’m sitting at the bar talking to a friend of mine on the phone analyzing how our team looks in preseason. The bartender in the photo precedes to turn the music up super loud as a way to mess with me. Then when seen that doesn’t phase me, comes over and tells me to go outside to talk on the phone. AGAIN, I’m at a sports bar and I’m one of 2 other people here. He wouldn’t give me another drink until I got off the phone and came back into the bar. Again, I was told to leave the bar and finish my conversation at the bar….at a sports bar with 2 other people in the entire bar. Then instead of saying anything to me. He stays away from the bar and does not even come near me(zero service). Now there are other reviews (see Venom Squeeze) regarding the same thing. Yes, you can see the bartender is white…the other two people in the entire bar is white and I’m a black man. Seeing now there are other reviews of situations like this is not surprising.

We stopped in this bar/lounge a couple of times during our short time to Honolulu. We were staying in the hotel it's connected to: the Ohana Waikiki Malia. There is lots of great sports memorabilia and several TVs for watching live games, but food was average and service wasn't much better than that on any of our visits.

We came in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Christopher was our server Tuesday night and even though our small tab of a few tacos and only a couple drinks probably wasn't the most important one of the night, it was no reason to forget about us after our food was brought out. We literally had to chase the server down to get our tab closed, and since it was our first night in town we really wanted to get out of there and explore. But that didn't give us reason to not return. We actually returned later that Tuesday and Evan gave us just decent service just before midnight.

I came back for drinks, karaoke, and salt n peppa chicken wings ($0.75 special on Wednesday) the next two nights that we were at the hotel. Service was good inside (Kapena was serving wings with a smile) and there's also a window for pizza from the street if youre not quite ready to go back indoors (enjoy Hawaii!!)

It was cool to have this bar hooked up to our hotel. We enjoyed coming in - but did find bars that had better service and food while on...

The waiter was handling the whole bar which had a lot of people there. I asked for a lime for my drink, he forgot it so I went up to the bar. He proceeded to say “I don’t grow them”, then took a stick and poked 3 lines onto it, tried to hand it to me but it fell into the garbage. I asked him for another lime and he stabbed erratically at another 3 limes on the stick. I thanked him but didn’t appreciate the way I was treated. For the next 30 minutes at least, he never bothered to offer me another drink. I approached him and asked about this, he half-apologized but gas-lighted me by talking about how he was the only waiter here. I asked him to calm down while speaking to me but he went ballistic. He then ran toward our table, grabbed the food off our table, and asked us to leave with the comment that he would “call the police if we didn’t leave now!!!!” We leafy and were standing at the door waiting for the rain to subside and all of a sudden, he was attacking us again by calling us out and to leave the premises. He didn’t need to continue this tirade. I was so frustrated that under my breath, I muttered an expletive and he has-lighted that yelling that I told him to F off in front of all his customers which was a lie.
