It takes a LOT for me to write a negative review. I mean a LOT. Especially in resort communities. I literally revel in writing positive reviews, but I have never encountered worse service in Jackson and I’ve spent a lot of time here.
We’ve been to the Silver Dollar many times- it’s never been quite like this. It’s been sketchy occasionally but not overtly rude. Tonight, we walked in, immediately after dinner at the cowboy bar, accompanied by an employee of the cowboy bar, which we understand is affiliated with this establishment. A blonde with braids walked over to our table and informed us, in the rudest sharpest tone, that there was no table service and we needed to go to the bar for service. No problem, thanks for letting us know. There were three uniformed cocktail servers standing at the bar, including the blonde with the braids, but we understood they were likely off shift and were fine with bar service. We ordered a drink and talked briefly with a server named Nicole, who was essentially a local and very friendly. We ordered another round and made small talk with the bartender, who was also friendly. The blonde, foreign, braided server proceeded to mock us “oh, where is your accent from?” (Our accents are from Wyoming) “Do you ski or snowboard,” etc in derisive and sarcastic manner. One of us said “please don’t mock me”. She told the bartender, who seemed embarrassed, “we always do this after our shift, we aren’t mocking”. But she was. And it was insulting. We aren’t tourists. We aren’t rude. We travel. We are welcoming to people from other countries. We are heavy tippers as we’ve worked in the industry.
Within 5 or so minutes of ordering our second drink, one of the idle cocktail servers standing at the bar stated- also in an insolent manner-“we are locking our doors. You need to leave right now.” Our drinks were full. Multiple people were still sitting at the bar- it was approximately 10:45 pm. We politely left, for the last time.
Tl;dr: spend your money here if you appreciate...
Read moreWe were greeted by our server (Shannon) who asked if we would like to start off with some drinks. We did not have a drink menu at the time and asked for one, looked it over briefly and had some questions about the menu. She asked again if we would like drinks and when we did not answer quickly she said "if you aren't ordering drinks...i'm walking away". My husband then asked if he could try a small sample of one of the local brews on tap. She said "I don't know if we can do a sample, the bar is very busy". We have never been told before that a sample was unlikely due to being "busy", when we are paying customers. We would have understood if the establishment did not normally do samples and therefore could not accommodate. When another staff member brought out our food, he spilled Ceasar dressing all over the back of my sweater. The dressing that went to my salad was the wrong salad all together. Half of our meal was delivered and my "Bison and garlic chili" was luke warm. Our friends only received part of their dinner and had to motion for Shannon to come over to check on our order. She acknowledged that I was given the wrong salad and never brought the correct one back. She only brought me the correct dressing since I didn't feel like wiping the dressing off my sweater to put on my salad. As a previous server myself, I was very disappointed by the service and the poor attitude from Shannon. The young man that spilled dressing on me was very apologetic and I did not mind the incident since mistakes happen and sweaters can be washed. We were never visited by a manager about the incident and mistakes were never offered to make right. I will not spend my...
Read moreI very rarely write reviews, but... As it was an interesting experience... It started with a not so friendly greeting. We were seated in the restaurant side (NOT the bar side just to preface)
Our server was nice but absent and a little clueless, But the food was abismal. 2 stars only because she was nice.
We had a burnt filet, not well done... but burnt. We've had better steaks at Applebee's. House "Wagu" burger was overdone. Then we were asked how we would like our muscles and shrimp cooked (she asked: Rare? Medium rare? Medium?) for the Frutti di Mare, which confused ALL of us to the point that the person who ordered it checked the menu to see if he missed a piece of beef on the ingredients. Which brings us to the Frutti Di Mare itself; it was comperable to a can of chef boyardee (but that would be a disservice to Chef Boyardee) with a bag of Jalapeno seeds tossed in as if feeding a flock of pigeons. For the price of the meal (almost $200) we expected a lot more. We understand Jackson is expensive, but we definitely did not get what we paid for and were left wanting to get slices of pizza or stop for chicken nuggets on our way home to fill our bellies and the hole left in our souls from such a bad meal.
A hotel guest showed up asking to be seated for dinner at 8:25 when the restaurant was closing at 9 and he was turned away (for the 2nd night in a row) being told that the kitchen was closed. He dodged a bullet on this one. Hopefully he went to the Bistro, which is where we ate the next night and it was delightful all around.
The wine...
