Update 7/11/24. We were seated pretty quickly on a “busy” Sunday. Ms. Gigi was great but they still don’t season their dishes very well. The Black and Bleu and One of by Land, Two of by Sea both required a generous amount of salt and pepper and I typically don’t use salt. 🥺The peach mimosa was delish, though! I probably won’t be back again. I chose this place based on reviews but my experience wasn’t the best. We placed our name on the list and was told the wait would be 35-45 minutes and that our space would be lost if we didn’t show up in 5 minutes. Cool. At NO time was I asked if the entire party was there or that we couldn’t be seated unless they were. I wasn’t told this until AFTER we were told our table was ready. At that point I asked the hostess if we would have to go to the end of the line. She answered no. Once again, cool. When the ONE other person arrived, we were told that we had to be placed back on the list. Wow! There was no reason given as to why this info wasn’t given when I asked. Ultimately we sat down about 5 minutes later. The server was nice but I didn’t love my food. I ordered the hangover and it could have used more seasoning. I don’t think any salt or pepper was used. Would I go back? Maybe, but I’m in no rush.

Super cute breakfast/brunch spot! Colorful and a warm & inviting staff. We found this spot to be close to the Marriott where we were staying for the weekend and we were glad we did, had breakfast here both days. When we arrived on Friday it was late morning so the wait to be seated was minimal at best. We were seated at a table that with a griddle made into it so that we could make our own pancakes if we chose to. We were lazy, we let the cooks in the kitchen flip our pancakes. My sister ordered the Kitchen Cakes with turkey sausage. I opted for the Black N Bleu Sea Grits (no bacon). My food was very flavorful, not salty as I kind of anticipated it might be and just plain old GOOD!! A hearty savory dish that I’d gladly order again when back in town. Day 2 I had the Goodman (not shown here) which was an omelette subbed with turkey sausage, cheese grits and blueberry pancake. We met the owner Deann on the second day and she was super pleasant and thanked us for coming twice! This is the perfect spot to bring young kids to make their own pancakes or watch the adults make it for them. Prices were crazy reasonable for the amount of food you get. Loved our entire experience here.

This place has potential, but doesn't meet expectations. The staff was not as friendly and helpful as one would hope. It was our first visit and we didn't know some tables don't have griddles. We were not asked, "Do you want a griddle table?" That would be helpful. Once we finally got seated, our griddle was not hot enough and our first batch of pancakes was a disaster (see photo). When we asked for assistance, they were kind enough to turn the heat up, but with little acknowledgement that our first batch of pancakes wasn't really pancakes. I was kind of hoping the manager would offer to give us a fresh start. No such luck. In addition to frustrations I've shared, the seating is pretty uncomfortable. The tables are made with four legs to accommodate the griddle in the middle of the table, but anyone who is taller than 5'8" will likely be hitting their knees on the table leg routinely throughout the meal (see photo). The bottom line is that you're paying to cook your own over-priced meal at a not so friendly, not so comfortable establishment. I was not impressed.

When we arrived there was a long wait to be seated; this is typically not an issue but it was a day where the heat index was 100+! However since the reviews were good we decided to brave the heat and wait the 40 minutes. When we were finally seated it was outside! We asked to be moved inside but we're told it would be another 20 minute wait and we could leave our table and go back to the line. At this point we were glad to finally get ice water so we stayed. The service, while friendly, can best be described as sloth pace. We waited more than 20 minutes to place our order because apparently it was so hot not even our server wanted to be outside waiting on us. When they came to take out order we noticed everyone coming was being seated inside so we asked again to be moved inside and were told we it was a 20 minute wait. I believe at this point the manger decided we were not moving inside no matter how many times we asked. When our food finally arrived, it may have been because we were sitting in 100 degree heat outside but it was colder than the metal table we were sitting at. Also the pancakes and biscuits were dry as if they had been sitting out for a long period of time. We asked for butter and jelly but since it took over 10 minutes to arrive at our table we just forged ahead drinking lots to help the food go down. But then of course we had to ask for drink refills which also took forever to get. Additionally, the hash browns were burnt making them mostly inedible. The coffee was also stale and no amount of cream made it easier to stomach. When the server brought our check we waited over 10 minutes for them to come back and get our card. At this point we were so ready to leave we threw down some cash and walked out. Just to note by the time we left we were the only people sitting outside. I would highly NOT recommend The Funky Brunch! It is overpriced for the terrible food and beyond...

We ate brunch here with a party of 7 on 9/1/24

I will start off by saying our food was not terrible but also nothing exciting at all. Our server was also very nice once we got to our table.

When we first arrived after our wait, and had received the text that our table was ready, we had the weirdest interaction I've ever had with a restaurant owner (Deanne).

She told us that we did NOT in fact have a text from them and it was a different party with the same name. When I showed her my text from them she started acting very flustered and telling me that nothing was ready for us. I TOTALLY understand mistakes happen so I just asked if she could let us know how long we would have to wait at this point. (We had already waited 30 min which was our quoted time)

I was standing about 2-3 feet away from her with a line of people behind me and she started to act completely unhinged and yelled "I need you to BACK UP NOW!" Totally confused, I scooted back the tiny amount that I could without touching other people and again she yelled for me to back up in such an aggressive tone that it made it seem like I had done something to her, when all I did was calmly and nicely ask a question and try to sort out our texts.

It was such odd behavior and such a rude way to treat a customer. Everyone around us looked so shocked at her behavior that I was honestly embarrassed for her.

The only reason we didn't leave was because we had a large party and had already waited for a while to eat.

Once we sat down to eat, we were within eyesight of the same owner and could see her pointing and talking about us to other staff members and even mocking our hand movements as we conversed amongst ourselves.

Honestly, the food could have been five star, and I would still never return to spend my money in a restaurant with such...

First let me start off by saying I am a local resident and have been to this establishment a number of times without ever having an issue. I also understand that if I decide to eat somewhere in downtown Savannah on a Saturday morning that a wait is expected. None of these things are a problem. However, today’s experience was unacceptable. A mistake was made with two separate reservations. There was a mix up between two parties that just so happened to have the same name and number of guests. The mistake was easy to make however, the way it was handled was unacceptable. My entire party was sat at two tables, our drink orders were placed, and then a waitress came over to let us know that we had to get up because we took the seats of another reservation. We were then told there was numerous people ahead of us but they would try to figure out when and where they could sit us. No one offered us anything while we had to wait. No one owned up to the mistake and honestly made it feel like it was our fault they confused the two reservations. No one really came over to see if there was anything they could do for us to make the experience better or to simply apologize. When we were sat I will say most of our food was brought out in a timely manner, except for one. When asked where this persons food was we were again given a thousand excuses instead of simply apologizing and saying let me go check on it for you. I finally asked to speak to a manager (who ended up being our server) they had nothing to say about the situation and did not offer anything to try to and make up for everything that happened. Again, the situation was the situation, but how it was handled was extremely unprofessional and...
