VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE TACTICS !!!!!!!!!! My wife and I love the Melting Pot, in fact this location 4 years ago is where we had our dinner after our wedding, that said we returned to Savannah for a getaway 2-4-19 and had reservations at 6. Overall the meal was fine as usual, the server did a fine job and the food excellent as always. BUT, when we walked in they asked us were we "celebrating" anything, I casually mentioned I had just retired and basically that was it. When the meal was completed and prior to the check coming our server brought us 2 half filled flutes of champagne, we said thank you that was nice. Truth known we don't like champagne but didn't want to disappoint her so we simply poured it in the water and no one knew the difference. BUT, WHEN THE BILL CAME WE WERE CHARGED FOR A "CELEBRATORY TOAST"??????? WHICH CAME TO $12????? We could have challenged it and probably should have but we didn't, I assume its management practice for some reason to do that, but why? If you want to FLEECE YOUR CUSTOMER BASE you could easily do it many ways but to do it that way, why? I will NEVER and I repeat NEVER walk in that door again. Management should be ashamed of themselves for a practice like that. We come to Savannah often but will dine elsewhere, preferably at a restaurant that doesn't take advantage of its clients. Very disappointed in a restaurant like The Melting Pot that they would stoop to a trick like that. 2/6/2019: I already sent it to the Melting Pot in Savannah on its website. Check with them. UPDATE: RECEIVED A CALL ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO FROM THE MANAGER, HE APOLOGIZED, SAID IT WASN'T "USUAL BUSINESS PRACTICE" FOR THAT TO HAPPEN, BLAMED IT ON SERVER, WHICH WHO KNOWS MIGHT BE TRUE. THEN HE SAID HE WOULD BE GLAD TO SEND US A GIFT CARD FOR THE TROUBLE FOR $25, WHICH WOULD BE FINE, WE'LL USE IT DOWN HERE IN VIERO, FLORIDA WHERE WE EAT AT THIS MELTING POT FROM TIME TO TIME. BUT, YOU GUESSED IT, ALMOST TWO WEEKS NOW AND ZIP. SEEMS ITS TOUGH TO GET THE STORIES STRAIGHT OUT OF THIS PLACE AFTER ALL. ALL I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, AND IT HAPPENED THE SAME WAY I DESCRIBED IT AND THE MANAGER KNOWS IT WAS TRUE BECAUSE HE LOOKED UP THE BILL. I STILL SAY ITS A SCAM TO GET MORE MONEY, LIKE THE "WINK WINK" EXTRAS THEY CHARGE HUGE AMOUNTS FOR. JUST DO YOUR HOMEWORK PEOPLE THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY, DO NOT AGREE TO EXTRAS WITHOUT FIRST FINDING OUT WHAT THEY PLAN TO CHARGE YOU FOR THESE "FREE" EXTRAS..., WON'T BE GOING BACK, WE HAVE ANOTHER TRIP TO SAVANNAH PLANNED THE END OF MARCH FOR 4 DAYS AND YES ONE EVENING WAS PLANNED TO BE BACK AT MELTING POT......BUT THAT'S IS OUT THE WINDOW NOW. WE WILL VISIT THE GREAT SEAFOOD PLACE JUST DOWN THE ROAD INSTEAD ACROSS FROM THE MARSHALL HOUSE, THEY TREAT YOU...
Read moreCame here as a first time guest and was not satisfied with the service. We arrived about 5 minutes before our reservation and wasn’t seated until 15 minutes later. As I stated before it was our first time here and we picked here for the “experience” more so the food but was still disappointed. When we asked questions about fondue styles and just different questions about the menu we never got a straight answer, it was always “it’s up to you” like that helped any. The best thing about the menu were the drinks (non alcoholic) but the thing that got me the most was when we asked for the dessert and the ticket (to go of course because the service was not genuine) and we did not feel welcomed or talked to and informed as other guest around us. She said “it’ll take about 5 minutes to bag up your order” well 16 minutes went by and she brought the check, the total was 186 but because we only had big bills I put $200 and was going to tip once the ticket came back. that was no problem at all. the problem came when she sat down the check after cashing us out, WITHOUT OUR DESERT but said “I’ll just sit this down if you want to leave something there” for one, where is my change? For two it’s been 20 minutes, no dessert to go is out but you cashed out and asking for more money. Just because my mom is a server I tipped 18% but I’m still upset about the service and everyone who saw my pictures of the food online and asked about dinning here I let know not to go and it wasn’t worth the experience at all. I found it weird that none of our food was seasoned like in the pictures, the server did not want to explain or answer any questions, she would not give us our food without paying first and even then when she came back and asked for the tip without or food. I don’t know if we are a young African American couple and was stereotyped or labeled but this was a never again type of situation. Not even worth the money and I never usually leave reviews on websites just through my foodie vlog of me traveling trying new places but this is something I can’t get over. NEVER AGAIN. if I could give 0...
Read moreLove this place. Last night my fiance and I went there for our 6th year dating anniversary. This was our fourth year going and the food was great. However, we ordered a four course meal. We didn't get a server for 20 minutes then we waited another 20 minutes just to get our drinks. The place was not packed what so ever there may have been 20 other people in the whole resturant. We got out cheese fondue which was delicious. Then after almost 30 minutes the waiter finally comes back and gets the drinks refilled the 15 minutes asfter having nothing else to eat he bring out the entre and started to enjoy it. With all the aggrivation of waiting we we're so hungry that we didn't even realize we never got our salads. We told the waiter after seeing him another 30-40 minutes later that he forgot our salads and that we didn't want it to take it off the bill. We get done eating the entre almost another 30 minutes later he brings out the chocolate fondue. Sits it there doesn't stir it or anything and walks off. Almost 20 minutes later he comes back the chocolate almost burnt and stirs it. While all this has been going on the table of 4 behind us got a 4 course meal is already almost finished with thier entres and they got thier an hour and a half after we did. We finally get the bill after being in the restaurant for a full 3 hours and the salads were still on their. I called for the manager. He came to the tabke was very nice and took 10% off. He then made the comment as you can see we have been very busy tonight. Let me remind you there was only around 20 people if even that in the whole restuarant. I then paid my bill of $107.00 which was expected. No problem!! The waiter came back to clean off the table before we were about to leave. He made the comment "sorry I've been to busy tonight". And walked off. So $107 bill and our waiter was to busy to deal with us! Needless to say he got $5 tip and I NEVER leave a bad tip! Needless to say we will NOT be...
