The good stuff first. I’d say this hotel was in a very good location, right in the middle of lots of stores and attractions. It was easy to find, because it’s located right on the main road. Only downside to that is the level of road noise. Every loud vehicle accelerating will be heard in the room because they all have a glass door leading to a small balcony with chairs, especially if your room is facing the road like ours. Perhaps the side facing the apple orchard is a bit quieter, not sure. The hotel had a clean, pleasant scent. The breakfast area was the one area of concern, and I cover that towards the end of my review. The free parking is always nice! There was no added incidentals charge either. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. Housekeeping was done every day unless you use the “do not disturb” magnet. The staff was very friendly and professional, and the free map of where to go on the property was helpful. My kids loved the pools and hot tub. Both areas were kept clean and maintained by the property.
Now the not so good stuff. Not sure how this is a 4 star hotel. No mention of room service and nothing but a few snack machines downstairs with sodas, crackers and candy bars, and a tea and cider station in the lobby. No freezer or refrigerated foods to purchase in the lobby like we’ve seen in most hotels in the same range. Only a few miniature size toiletries provided. I hoped they would have had full sizes attached in the shower like l've seen at tons of 3 star hotels, which would have been great since I forgot my body wash. Good thing Walgreens is across the street. Also no towel racks to dry your towels. Only a hook on the door and two small rings to hold hand towels to dry your hands. That was a struggle with four of us. For some reason we didn’t have an extra roll of TP in the bathroom. So we ran out of course. I dialed 0 on the room phone to ask for more and no one answered. I had to walk to the lobby and ask for a roll. The clock was on the fritz, blacking out and then coming back on with a different times. We just had to check our phones, no biggie. There was no safe to keep valuables in the room. I always bring a small lock to put on my luggage just in case. I guess the pools and fire pit are what get the 4th star, because everything else is basic and bare minimum. Here's the big one that bothered me and will keep me from coming back unfortunately. The ceiling was leaking in the breakfast area. Dripping on the floor, and on our table next to our food. I looked up and saw dark mold in the light fixtures and spreading out across the ceiling from the lights. Then I realized I could smell it too. I had a headache the whole time I was there, not sure if that was the cause or maybe it was my kids. Lol. But yeah, that was a disturbing discovery. Last visit...
Read moreThe Comfort Inn Apple Valley in Sevierville is a cut above! The entire facility, inside and outside, is exceptionally clean, airy, well lit, and well maintained. It even smells clean and pleasant everywhere ... hallways, pool area, and all common areas as well as the room. It is also beautifully decorated (in our case, for fall) and quiet! It's easy to see that management goes the extra mile to maintain this hotel's excellent reputation.
We had a two-queen-bed room. Beds were extremely comfortable and clean. The bathroom was convenient and clean with a good shower, there was a generous supply of linens, and there is second small counter and sink outside the bathroom near the refrigerator and microwave.
I don't know if every room has these, but we had two comfortable chairs with an ottoman (foot rest) for each chair. No cheap, sinking, uncomfortable furniture here. There is also a nice desk and office chair, and a generous built-in, upholstered bench on which to open luggage if you like to leave a piece of luggage open for convenience. There are plenty of lamps and light (and they all worked!) and adequate outlets for connecting chargers. The WiFi connection was also good. Even the balcony was sparkling clean (not even a cobweb, as I have seen at some other hotels).
The flat screen TV is wall mounted, allowing it to telescope out and swivel so it can be viewed comfortably from the seating area, and the channel selection is amazing. I don't think I've ever seen the quality of selection at another hotel! We needed to adjust the chairs and ottomans to view the TV when we settled in for the evening, but that was easy to do. We almost felt like we were at home, as far as comfort, and we were there five nights. The staff were friendly and helpful, and housekeeping did an excellent job. We did not make it to the complimentary breakfast each morning, but I'm sure, based on the total experience, it was equally excellent.
In addition, the hotel is located literally one minute from the Applewood Farmouse Restaurant and The Apple Barn and Cider Mill, one of our favorite spots in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville area. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and we will definitely return. Highly...
Read moreA friend and I stayed three nights as a spur of the moment decision after leaving a so called four star resort that was a bust. We checked in to a third floor, two queen bed w/ sleeper sofa suite overlooking the street, pool and fire pit. The Inn at Apple Valley was very clean and the staff was professional and friendly - a rarity these days. They replenished supplies and straightened the room daily. Amenities included an indoor pool, indoor pool side hot tub (fizzy not hard jets), and an outdoor pool. There is also a fire pit, a nice outside patio and each room has a balcony. The breakfast was fabulous with a variety of items including eggs, meat, fruit, pancakes, waffles and fruit. There was something for every eating style. Additionally the breakfast was well attended by the staff and replenished frequently minimizing worries about food quality. All of the expected and advertised amenities were available (and in good working order) in the room. It was the first time in ages that I've not had to hunt down necessary supplies or asked for a repair! The location was a perfect central base to visit the various parts of Sevierville, Gatlinberg and Pigeon Forge. If you haven't been to the area in a few years, there have been some improvements to the traffic situation though I highly recommend middle of the week visits and not peak summer, week end, holiday times. Improvements over the last 10+ years include a peripheral connecter road, buses and trolleys to relive congestion. We ended up staying an extra day just because :) The Inn smells like apples everywhere. One thing is for certain, you will never forget you've been at the Inn at...
