I normally leave only good reviews, but the fact that weeks after our visit to Zion I find myself still compelled to "tell it like it is," should tell you something. I'm sure there's an aspect of the "theme park/captive audience" that goes into this place, and I'm not impressed. Between getting our order wrong, not having food that was on the menu...OK. Things happen. But the prices...come on. $5 (or was it technically $4.95) for a plastic bottle of Diet Coke? I get it for a "Mexican Coke" in a glass bottle, but seriously? Just for myself and two kids the bill was well over $60 to eat...and my daughter really didn't eat anything, so it was more like $60 for one adult and one child. No one left this place really happy about the experience. I don't like paying for overpriced hype, and that's kinda what this place felt like. Since this was the only place in town that we ate, I can't recommend somewhere better, but I wish our family would've tried another establishment. I get it...there are limited options. Wish I had a more positive experience. If the management or owners of Camp Outpost read this, I get it, I know this is a tough business and probably a challenging location. And maybe this is a bit of Midwesterner sticker shock. I'm not a trained chef, but I cook every family meal. If I leave a dining experience feeling like I overpaid and could do better in my own home kitchen, then I've left a dissatisfied customer. I don't think that's too high a bar to ask, especially with the prices where they were at. When I reflect on this experience, the two-word summary that comes to mind is "ripped-off". I don't ever want to leave a restaurant feeling that way. Hope you can do better, and maybe I'm just in the minority. Not everyone is going to love...
Read moreFood is alright. They won't take an order over the phone, so the only work they do is hand you a bag, and they still require a minimum tip on their website. I'm all for tipping, I've worked in the culinary industry for 6 years, and I get it. However, when you literally avoid speaking with me at all by forcing me to order through a website, I feel like I should be fine not leaving a tip. You're doing less work than a fast food employee at that point. And I cannot believe the strain that would put on a kitchen. Kitchen staff has a hard enough time already making out notes that servers put on tickets, but they let customers do anything to their tickets. The staff seems very lackadaisical about the joint, I watched a customer grab a handful of silverware from a basket, and put it back, in front of a server, and that server didn't have the silverware washed after. That's against health code. Who knows what that customer had on his hands, and if other customers are off of that silverware. Tried to give them a second chance, ordered a veggie burger ($20 plate) and it wasn't hot, I complained, and the general manager couldn't be bothered to be polite or apologize. Didn't offer any solution, just asked "what do you want me to do about it?". Like he couldn't see why a cold burger was an issue No dinner for me I guess, since you can't be bothered to offer to fix your own mistakes. This place deserves 0 stars as far as...
Read moreMight just be the best food in Springdale right now! Fresh, clean foods. Great flavor with unique combinations. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly executed - toasty and crisp on the outside (not burnt and hard), cooked through with still chew at the center (not mushy). So good! We ate here at Camp Outpost two of the three nights of our trip, the food was that good. Tried both the rotisserie chicken (dark and light meats) and the roasted pork. Both so good, but the chicken is magic! Wow. Crisp skin, light herb seasonings, juicy meat. And the roasted potato arugula radish salad is incredible. So much flavor without being too much - perfection. Wish I knew the recipe, I’d like to make at home. I want some right now please! Tried the mustard sauce (yummy) and the chimichurri (really flavorful, balanced, not overpowering garlic like some recipes). Chef Phil was warm and authentic. Not too busy to sit for a minute and chat with us about food and travel. He genuinely wants each guest to feel relaxed, at home and to love their food. All the servers were friendly and quick and attentive. Food came out fast and was SO good! Nice craft beer selection, even some cocktails and wine too. 100% enjoyable experience. Perfect eatery for after a day outside, you’re still in muddy boots and jeans, and you’re hungry. You just want a warm friendly relaxed place with really good food. Camp Outpost is your place! We will...
